Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Johnson.
Adam, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve played music all of my life, and chased fame in my 20’s with original music. After my last band imploded I started sitting in with Yacht Rock Revue at their residency in the Highlands. I became involved with the band and subbed for their imprints for a few years which formally started my cover band journey. It was then I realized all the business classes I took in college suited me well to build bands and brand them. After launching a successful corporate 80’s band called Members Only I decided to make other groups and pitch them under one umbrella. That was the inspiration for ATL Party Bands.
With the agency launched and all of the bands created I thought I could help other musicians in other cities learn from all the missteps I experienced over the years. I launched a blog and a podcast called Cover Band Confidential last year. It has just surpassed 24,000 downloads in addition to a very active Facebook community. My hope is that the podcast can help elevate musicians into true entrepreneurs and empower them to take action in their careers. I have built an amazing team at CBC and a thriving community so the future looks bright!
Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not. The market for live music is volatile and competitive. We decided early on to function from an abundance mindset and lift up the community as a whole. We have partnered with other bands and send business to others frequently. Our hope is that good faith in others will return good faith in kind for us.
In the process of building bands, I’ve learned a lot from mistakes and adversity. When something works it feels great and we can harness that for future endeavors. When something fails we learn even more. In my opinion, the victory is in the process. We are always trying new things to promote our brand and diversify our product offerings.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with ATL Party Bands – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
ATL Party Bands is a full-service entertainment agency specializing in live music for private events. Whether you need a solo musician for a restaurant, a DJ for a reception or a full band for your corporate party we are equipped to provide you the best service in the city.
I am proud of the diverse network of artists we have built to serve our clients. We can be agile and versatile in our offerings and do everything we can to let our clients enjoy their event while providing the soundtrack to the best night of their life. We are family-owned, and I am involved from the initial request to the final note. We pride ourselves on delivering outstanding service to our clients and our musicians. We want people who work with us, both clients and talent, to enjoy their time and minimize their stress.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the culture and the FOOD! We have lived all over the metro area and each neighborhood has its own charm and personality. The amount of people in this area who support live music and throw parties have made us as busy as we want to be. Because of our airport, we have worked with corporate clients from all over the globe. Atlanta is our home and we love it dearly.
I dislike very little about our city. I think transit options could be more robust and if we could do something about the humidity that would be GREAT.
