Meet Addie Jean

Today we’d like to introduce you to Addie Jean.

Hi Addie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Beauty is defined by the pure essence of confidence, The most amazing mother (Delamise Jean) always said this in her native language (Creole) to me. Growing up in the community of Little Haiti in Miami, Florida you had to fight to beat the odds/statistics of being an immigrant’s child. My mother styled hair for extra income all while being a cook and a housekeeper. The smile on the client’s faces after a service always made me tell my mom “I want to make women smile”. I started off as a braider at the age of 15 and gradually worked my way into weaving, wigs and etc. My eldest sisters (I have 4) have taught me different techniques in which I created my own. I left Miami in 2018 and moved to Atlanta to pursue my career. I became the first person in my area to consecutively book out in 5 minutes or less for over 2 years. I am currently working on e-courses to show the world what hard work and dedication look like. I am the definition of getting it out of the mud! I pride myself in respecting every individual that comes for service,

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest struggle I experienced is the many rejections I had to endure when I was living in Miami. I experienced a lot in my lifespan from rape to a suicide attempt. I felt like every time I will get ten steps ahead, I was pushed twenty back, but that build my character. I am walking, living and breathing testimony. I will continue to speak life into others.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Haitian American master cosmetologist who strives in providing exceptional service to woman and men. My most popular service is wig installations and quick weave bobs. I also specialize in hair coloring, makeup and many more beauty-related services. I have my own product line to be released in Summer of 2023. I am so proud of my brand as “Addie J” is in reference to my late mother. My clients love being serviced by me because my life experiences allow me to be a “therapist” as well. I love speaking life into women especially women of color.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
PATIENCE AND CONSISTENCY! Don’t be afraid to ask questions and consistently seek answers. Be available to accept criticism (good and bad). Always remain humble! Be your own creative person never follow trends. Be the trend.
