Today we’d like to introduce you to Adesola Oshikanlu.
Hi Adesola, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My uncle in Nigeria trained me in events back in 1991. I didn’t think I would ever need the skill nor think of using it for a day then. He worked tirelessly without food and made us do the same, and I almost hated him for that. Little did I know that he was helping me discover my passion. I am grateful to him for introducing me to the event industry and for guiding me through the ups and downs of it.
I started my wedding planning business “Unique Events By Shollah” 10 years ago. I enjoy event creation, event design, event decoration, planning and coordination. I have my background in information Technology (Quality Assurance) in which I did simultaneously with event management for 10 years. Consistency is what I am known for. Every detail done in a timely manner counts.” Some of our successes include being featured in Southern Bride Magazine, Munaluchi Blog, Black Bride Blog, and The B-Collective.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been so many disappointments and betrayals. We had many lessons learned, but the main thing is to remain focused. We get up and keep focusing on the end result.
We’ve been impressed with Unique Events By Shollah, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
One thing I am proud about brand wise is the quick growth within the organization while sustaining a high quality of services. We stand by our mission statement ”perfection is the only option”. We offer décor, rentals, event planning and coordination. We cater for all events, both large and small, including everything in between. We are dedicated to delivering effective, efficient, fun and unique events with integrity and accountability using both proven and innovative solutions. We promote honesty, integrity and openness in all that we do. We encourage innovation and creativity.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Personality wise, I was very feisty. Interest wise, I used to love travel and shopping and still do.
