Today we’d like to introduce you to Aerii Atmosphere.
Hi Aerii, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I actually have been singing since before I could talk. My dad told me at 2 years old I busted in the living room where he and my family were sitting, singing Tevin Campbell’s “Can We Talk” shocking him and everyone else. I have no recollection of that but I do remember singing at my mom’s friend’s functions, entertaining everyone on their full sound system at 5 years old. I grew up singing in church and rummaging through my mom and sister’s cassette tapes and cds in my room. My love for music has always been a part of my identity. I’ve always innately known that I would be a singer/songwriter but the more the real-world reality kicked in, the more I ran from that dream. Even with life’s ups and downs, music has played a huge part in who I was, who I’ve grown into, and who I was created to be. I’m grateful to be molded in the era of walkmans-mp3players-iPods and headphones. To this day, I have to keep my AirPods on me. I started recording at 14 and I’ve placed in many competitions, had many performances, and recording sessions. I’ve been through so much with music and it’s taken, what seems as a long time to others, the right time to figure out who I was as an artist. I now fully believe to be capable and grateful to be operating in my calling the right way and pursue music unapologetically in my style.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It most absolutely has not been easy. I struggled with self-doubt and low confidence for the longest time. You have to the right people around you and that’s also played a part in my delay. But delay is not denial or rejection. This journey has definitely been purposeful and rewarding and it feels good to overcome the fear and roadblocks that have tried to keep me back. Working with seasoned producers, engineers, and being a part of great bands has helped cultivate me as a performer and overall artist and I’m thankful to have learned from some vets in recording and live shows.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer/songwriter. I’ve been known for my voice since grade school. I used to be so shy, I hated when my friends would tell strangers about my talent. I’m proud of some accomplishments I’ve made in my gift, but I still have so much more to achieve. I think my unique ear style and writing pen sets me apart. I hear what others don’t, and having my own way of putting lyrics together.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in the will of God and choices. Everything always comes with choices and as I matured and learned the business, it’s key to be in tune with God and your surroundings. What’s for you will always be for you, no matter what.
