Meet Ahaja Scott of Baby Ahaja Events in Chamblee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ahaja Scott.

Ahaja, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began teaching fitness classes in 2010, which was a shocker because I was not a fan of working out. But I have always loved dancing. One day I was invited to a dance fitness class. At the time, I didn’t know those existed. After the warm-up, I was hooked. Later I found out the class I was invited to was Zumba Fitness. I knew then that not only did I love the class but I wanted to teach it.

I obtained my licenses and certifications required and started off teaching Hip Hop classes among other fitness formats, including Zumba in 2011. Two years later, I became a Zumba Jammer. A Zumba Jammer is considered a leader for the Zumba Instructor Community in their area and others; we teach choreography, network, and motivate other instructors to add in more flavor and fun concepts to their classes. I have been a Zumba Jammer for five years and have enjoyed being a leader for the ATL community and nationwide.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, I truly believe there are no smooth roads to success. My mom used to say, “If it never rains, you’d never appreciate the sunshine.” I’ve had classes where people did not show, music devices were not working, even when people do not like my class. The beauty about fitness classes is that if you connect with at least one person, you have succeeded.

Baby Ahaja Events – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I teach fitness classes around the metro ATL area, primarily Zumba Fitness. My clients/students are what drive me to continue my job. Outside of the love for dancing, their smiling faces and continued satisfaction with the class keeps me motivated.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My most proud moment has to be when I became a Zumba Jammer. From the audition to the training in Los Angeles, to my very first workshop. I was beyond excited to have accomplished all of my goals that year.
