Akai, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been in love with fashion ever since I can remember. It was always something about going into a store and not being able to find EXACTLY what you’re looking, that made me wanna start designing & reconstructing clothes.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road is definitely not easy in the fashion world. Between picking a brand name and coming up with unique designs has always been nerve-racking. The fashion industry is a revolving door and you always want to make sure your stuff is as different as possible because it so many people putting on variations of the same product. I believe this has been what’s holding me up not want to look too much like others so I continue to put off until I can execute my exact vision.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with 3NinetyVII/ StyledByAkaiAnais – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
3NinetyVII is my custom business and will soon lead to a line. I distress, paint, & bedazzle garments To the client’s liking. I also make tutus.
StyledByAkaiAnais is my styling business. As of now, I just virtual style and post to social media. My goal is to style all types of people from kids, to your urban college student, to the CEO of the biggest businesses.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like how much opportunity is in Atlanta. If you apply yourself & get out and network to get your face known. It could really take you far. However, what I don’t like is that somethings could be really grouped up and if you have no type of connection to anybody within the group, it could make the process a little harder.
