Meet Akelliah Clark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Akelliah Clark.

Hi Akelliah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Akelliah Iman. I am from Laurens, SC. Hair and beauty has always had a special place in my heart! Beginning in 6th grade, I would do my classmates’ hair just to get a little practice in. After I graduated from Laurens District 55 High School in 2015, I began my professional cosmetology career at Paul Mitchell The School Of Greenville. Once I graduated from Paul Mitchell in 2016, I continued to work on my craft and clientele. I’m so thankful and blessed to see how much I’ve learned and how much my clientele has grown. I’m proud to say that I specialize in healthy hair, Microlink extensions, sew-ins, blowouts and color!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I began my career at the age of 19, as my business matured so did I. There were lessons I learned from advice, experience, and unfortunately I’ve learned some things the hard way. But I would not regret a thing, my seven years of obstacles and challenges have made me a strong and more professional hair stylist.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I choose to be a healthy hairstylist because I truly enjoy seeing the look on my clients’ faces when they see what their natural hair is capable of.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by how I truly feel inside. Peace means a lot to me. I used to think success came from a career, friends, family, and other external things. But I’m learning that success comes every day. It’s the simple, yet big things that make me feel successful.
