Today we’d like to introduce you to Al Bashiri.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Al. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started restaurant and hospitality business in early 1980’s, after few years working in different capacity, from busser, to waiter, to manager I partnered with few friends whom all were active in restaurant business and started a solo Italian concept in 1987, a good friendly and causal with hint of upscale service,
In 1989, I departed from those friends and started ALTOBELI’S,
Concept was the same and still is true to this date: provide a family and neighborhood feel as every guests is welcomed as a family. We tell our guests: “Altobeli’s is your home away from home”.
Over the years we have enhanced our operation adding live music and dance to provide more value and service to our patrons.
We have been serving North Fulton area for the past 28 years with pride and I believe the reasons for this longevity are; have the best and loyal guests, and fantastic and hardworking staff, some of whom have been with me for more than 20 years.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are challenges and obstacles in every business, Restaurant business being a tough business, if not the toughest, it is not an exception.
There are challenges everyday. The key to survival is to think positive and see the challenges as a way of progress.
If the operator does not have the right and positive attitude, the road comes to dead end quickly. I have tried to teach this philosophy to my staff.
Please tell us about Altobeli’s Restaurant and Piano Bar.
This is a neighborhood eatery emphasizing in quality ITALIAN food along with a relaxed atmosphere so our guests can enjoy a nice time dining at Altobeli’s and enjoying quality live music and dance.
When we started, Alpharetta then and Johns Creek now was a very small neighborhood. Now it has become a mega and beautiful city surrounded with other beautiful cities that have grown alongside with Johns Creek.
I am proud of the fact we have grown along with this progress and stablished Altobeli’s as a place that you can go and enjoy your time.
I never want to compare Altobeli’s with other establishments, I try to do my best to achieve what my goals are
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Growing up back in my home town, remembering chasing the soccer ball for hours after school with other kids till you could not see the ball due to darkness.
I miss those good old days.
