Meet Ala Hammond of To the POINTE Dance Academy in Stone Mountain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ala Hammond.

Ala, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began my dance journey at the age of six years old. Ever since then, I knew dance was something I wanted to pursue! My childhood journey is what made who I am today. I developed a love for the youth when I quickly realized everyone needs someone! Dance is a tool that I use to connect with the youth that I encounter with on an everyday basis. With dance, there’s no right or wrong, it’s nothing but FREEDOM! To the Pointe Dance Academy is a place that God blessed me with to allow all kids to come & feel free of no judgment! I am beyond thankful to be a young entrepreneur with such a great impact on our community.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road. My lack of faith is what caused my struggles to be more than what they were. But now, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the To the POINTE Dance Academy story. Tell us more about it.
I specialize in dance from a variety of genres! Hip-Hop, Ballet, Street Jazz but most importantly, Liturgical! I am known for my Praise Dance. What sets us aside from other dance companies is the unique style we use to connect with the audience!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t call it luck, I’ll call it blessings! When you believe your business is a success, it’ll manifest before your eyes.
