Hi Alea, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My first ever job while in high school, was in the ice cream business. I loved everything about it! I’ve always looked for that level of joy in every job I’ve had as an adult. While most of my career was satisfying, I always came home to my therapeutic tasks of baking every weekend. Ice cream was always my favorite dessert and I ate it almost everyday and would eat it with almost anything. Opportunity presented itself 6 years ago, as I grew tired of Corporate America. I wrote my business plan and jumped. With the guidance of God and support of my family, that leap of faith has been one of the most challenging and most rewarding leaps I have ever made! This is exactly what I had been looking for! This is it!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Never a smooth road and rarely any smooth days! It’s always obstacles of some sort. But that’s the part that keeps me creative and sharp. The economy is always changing and there are always so many variables contributing to that. All of which impact buyer behavior, competition, cash flow, costs, marketing, etc. As a business owner you will never be able to free and clear of obstacles.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am a big risk taker. The longer you are in business, the more you learn and experience the less I have become afraid of risks. With much risks comes great rewards. To open a brick and mortar business alone was risky, I now have 2 storefronts, a food trailer and 4 pushcarts for catering. In order to overcome all the changes in business requires your to constantly pivot to overcome challenges. Some days get really overwhelming, but I want success so bad, so I am and have been willing to risk it all. And I as well as my family, we do risk it all.
