Meet Alejandro DeLeon of DeLeon Barber in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandro DeLeon.

Alejandro, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I developed my passion for the creative process of Men’s grooming at a young age in my hometown of Miami, Florida. After my mother gifted me a pair of clippers in middle school, I quickly opened up shop in her garage where I started honing my skills.

After years of working in wholesale banking and sales, I decided to make a career following my passion when I was a kid. I garnered admiration from my professors and mentors and with my natural hair cutting ability, graduated in the top of my class in Barber College.

When I’m not cutting hair, I travel, enjoy exploring different cultures and cuisine. And true to my South Floridian roots, fancy myself an avid fisherman with a deep connection to the ocean.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road hasn’t been smooth, but I never expected to create a business that ultimately depends on my talent and ability to stay consistent.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the DeLeon Barber story. Tell us more about the business.
De León is high-level men’s grooming parlor. Specializing in men’s haircuts, offered is a signature haircut that is personally created to accommodate one’s business and personal lifestyle, executed with a combination of classic and modern haircutting techniques, its an experience with a fantastic haircut or shave every single time.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Men’s grooming has become one of the fastest growing industries! In 2013 there was a resurgence in barbershops, and now we are in the middle of a boom! Everyone is in line to experience that 45-minute pampering where your confidence in your barber meets total disconnection of your day and you discuss sports, relationships, food-drink and everything in between, all while getting that mane back to proper and/or the beard game back to a high level.

Ladies have been doing it for years – now high-end barbershops are a place for the modern man to spend an hour getting a proper haircut and beard trim. Landlords are leasing out confidently to the new barbershop and shave-shop concepts because they see the industry as exempt from e-commerce. Barbershops will soon be occupying lots of retail space. Along with lots of new barbershops and shave-shops, there will be many new barber colleges.

Many talented haircutters will transition to educating in the classroom. Within a fast-growing industry are many opportunities. From video production, photography, graphic design, web development, and so much more, everyone wants in the barbering industry, it’s hot, it’s strong, its back and better than ever!
