Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleron Kong.
Aleron Kong, The Father of American LitRPG.
Dr. Aleron Kong is a physician by day, best-selling author of LitRPG by night based out of Atlanta, Georgia. Best known for his series “The Land”, Aleron has published seven titles in the last two years, and continues to write passionately, with a goal to continue the series to fifty books and a movie or TV series. He hopes to break the mold of SciFi writers, bringing more diversity to the genre.
Each of his seven books has become #1 best sellers on Amazon. His latest release, The Land: Predators reached #18 out of all of Amazon’s more than 30 million novels. His first book, The Land: Founding, reached #1 in the entire Audible store in 2017.
The youngest of four, Aleron was born in Wisconsin but moved frequently as the son of a successful cooperate ladder climber. He was inspired by his Mother’s journey with medicine and decided to pursue a career in it as well. He began his college education at Dartmouth, and later attended Morehouse, where he completed his medical education. He is now the first triple Morehouse Alumnus in history having completed training at Morehouse School of Medicine and Morehouse Internal Medicine training program as well. Throughout his college career, and to this day, Aleron is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha, the same fraternity as Martin Luther King Jr. and Jesse Owens. He enjoys spending his free time with his family, including his six nieces and nephews.

He has been named a Kindle Unlimited All-Star eight times, the most recent of which was last month, April 2018. His work was also a finalist for Best Fantasy Novels for the past two years.
Dr. Al, as his patients fondly refer to him, has a lifetime goal of leaving the world a better place than he found it. He has worked to raise over $35,000 for charities including The Water Project, The Brotherhood Sister Sol, Able Gamers, Texas Blue Armor Brotherhood, and recently helped to raise funds for those impacted by Hurricane Irma. He also has donated books to the 704th Military Intelligence Brigade as well as various Pediatric hospitals. His charitable works in progress include a Women’s Health Initiative, as well as plans for a Breast Cancer Fundraiser.
When Aleron isn’t saving lives or writing, he is working hard to help the genre of LitRPG and the authors within it, to grow. He has created countless resources for new authors in the genre and continues to mentor those entering the field. He hopes to inspire continued growth and recognition of LitRPG.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The path to becoming a successful author was definitely a winding road. Even more so for an African-American author. I have received a fair number of messages that involve hate speech. Despite all that, it has been worth it thousand times over. I have received far more messages of support and kindness. I’ve been told about the positive impact I have made on many peoples lives. On a personal level, it’s just amazing to have found my passion in life.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
The best times were always with my family. My mother and father are both powerful people and their business took them around the world. I have brothers and sisters, but I’m the youngest by ten years. I grew up very independent. The times we were able to come together though, were special. We don’t really manage more than 48 hours before our strong personalities bump heads, lol, but I still love it when we can spend time together.
