Meet Alexander Reed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Reed.

Hi Alexander, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We started off as friends or friends of friends and found our passion for creating songs in a basement where we grew into a family known as Kids In The Back (K.I.T.B). From there we grew into our roles after graduating high school and aimed to release a debut right out of school, with the death of the laptop containing all the tracks and recordings for this supposed first group project one of the co-founders took it upon himself to drop his first solo EP Perception under K.I.T.B with features from all members of the group finally debuting their sound at the time. After the release of this project the members turned to starting on something new as soon as possible and thus began the trio tape Organized Chaos fully produced by DIGGS while featuring Reed and Fla$hy as the main artists on the tracks, while this tape showed off the free-spirited personalities and energetic tempos we understood that there was still much to creating as individuals and as a group we had to learn on our journeys.

From here life happened and after a small hiatus from creating we found ourselves moving out of our parent’s homes and into places of our own where we connected on what would become the first group project we’ve made with every member of the group since losing the what could of been first group project. This project ended up being mainly produced by a former member of the group but featured all of the artists and involved all their ideas, at the time all of us in the group were struggling in so many different ways rather we showed it on the surface or not from financial to mental and emotional and all of the trials and tribulations we endured it seemed as if we were all going through it at once; being who we are we never complained about these struggles instead we chose to enjoy life and be as appreciative of it and the things we have obtained individually and together, the project Kids In The Back embodied this and gave all of us a place to vent the current struggles, thoughts and feelings we were experiencing in a manner to connect to others who may possibly relate to the come up.

After this project just like our audience, life began to rise with new opportunities and more gains in positive ways so we regrouped and began the next project 4444 which would go on to embody just that. This project mainly produced by co-founder DIGGS was set to show off the come-up we’ve been in such a way that was fun and brought life to our audience while showing how we party and live life over here. This project lead to the creation of K.I.T.B’s business 4444Events in which we host parties that reflect our sound and image while maintaining an experience that is unique to us and the house parties we grew up on; we started this business because we always hated the barrier built between the artist and the fan, how it always felt as if they are looking up to us and only able to connect to us as an artist through our music, visuals, and social media so we decided to host our own events that can act as a party, concert, shop, as well as interactive fun all while connecting to us and other artist and as people on a more personal level through the events.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road completely but it’s about the journey not the destination, we’d rather of experienced such things for life only matters if you live it. Moving through such things like losing laptops with projects on it, finding an engineer who connects well with the sound and vision we’re trying to create, even when we had to lose a member of the music and friend group we still managed to pick the pieces up and continue to create because it is truly the only thing that drives us to share who we are in hopes of it connecting to others in a way that matters. Another obstacle that has been our most recent is getting more and more people to attend our events so we can connect to more audiences on a more personal note while also showing them how we party.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We create music for the kids that are just trying to be themselves, who want to have fun and feel free to express themselves, for all the small-town people who want and create more for themselves making something out of nothing. We specialize in producing and creating music while also hosting parties that are unique to our brand and reflect the type of partying we grew up on in our town. We’re known for being proud of where we come from and all the parties we’d throw in the same basement we started making music in. What stands us apart from others besides financing ourselves and our endeavors we’ve managed to do so as a close friend group, what we create itself reflects all of our individual past and present influences in such a way that becomes the unique sound that we create as well how we deliver our message of freedom and fun. To further set us apart from others we started our business 4444Events to reflect our lifestyles and idea of fun while being able to connect to the audience on a more personal level and deliver our music directly to them at every event as well as different artists and vendors.
