Alexis, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up as a teenager hanging out clubbing, partying or just wanting to have nice items, it was very upsetting when I missed a beauty supply for essentials, mall for clothing, etc. I always said I need to sell items that are needed around the clock because I can’t be the only one that feels this way. Never imagined having a Convenience store until the opportunity presented itself. I am very thankful that the Kirkwood community have welcomed me into this business. We have food items, candy, drinks, lottery, notary services, western union, fax and copies available. I appreciate each and every customer that have supported my business since it has opened. Another business venture I decided to invest in my women boutique. I decided to put it right inside the Food Mart. The ladies show the boutique so much love on a daily. From lashes, clothes, lipgloss, hair products I have them covered. Stepping out on faith with this vision was one of the best decisions that I could have made.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, this has not been a smooth road. Opening a business during the middle of COVID was challenging to begin with, luckily I begin getting the business together back in October. There were a couple of stipulations in the beginning trying to get certain licensing but for the most part, everything is going well.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with L & C Food Mart and PrettyoneCollection – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
L & C Food Mart is a local black-owned convenience store in Atlanta, Georgia that opened on June 15, 2020. I am the owner of the business, we are known for having great customer service to every customer. What makes me most proud of L & C is we are consistent and customers brag about the service they receive. When business first opened, we asked customers to walk the store to see if they didn’t see something they would like to see. Some of those customers returned and later saw product that was requested. Our customer service sets us apart from others.

I love our city. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I have always wanted a business within Atlanta.
