Meet Alice Park of Park Studios in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alice Park.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My husband Kyu and I are decade-long photography business owners who long had a vision for Park Studios. In 2009, we founded the National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP), with the belief in the idea of creating an encouraging and uplifting professional culture that, above all, is about community. This innovative, collaborative and entrepreneurial approach is what now defines Park Studios. Park Studios is distinct in that we believe in organic connections and the cultivation and development of thoughtful ideas and relationships.

Has it been a smooth road?
There are always obstacles and challenges in any small business journey. As a couple, Kyu and I have always set goals, embarked upon adventures, and put together plans. We believe that the result has been innovation in our industry and its culture. Ultimately, taking on challenges and striving together is what keeps us moving forward.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Park Studios story. Tell us more about the business.
Park Studios is a 1000-square-foot natural light studio and creative space in the heart of Buckhead. Designed by me, the studio was thoughtfully set up to coordinate with and enhance event design and the work of the artists who use it. Everything, from the direction the studio windows face, to the clean white hardwood floors, to the ideal white hue on the walls, was intentionally planned through my experience as a photographer. I used my love of design and a dash of creativity. Of course, it would not have been possible without my husband’s hard work, labor, and the long hours he put in to bring this space to life.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Park Studios is proof that not only photographers are using studio spaces anymore. Our “white box” has been turned into a sophisticated business space, an inspirational meeting place, an art gallery, a wedding venue, a party space, and so much more. I believe this shift to studios being utilized by anyone and everyone with discerning taste, will continue.
