My name is Aliya, and I’m from Newark, New Jersey. Hair has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I started honing my skills at the age of 12, styling friends and family, and my love for hair only grew stronger during high school. I even took extra cosmetology courses at a technical school to deepen my knowledge.
After high school, I attended Empire Beauty School, where I earned my Master Cosmetologist license and graduated in 2013. With 9 years of professional experience, I’ve had the privilege of transforming countless clients, helping them feel confident and beautiful.

Reflecting on my journey in the hairstyling industry, it’s been anything but smooth. Early on, striving for success led me to overlook certain boundaries, resulting in instances where clients took advantage, including unpaid services. These experiences taught me the importance of establishing clear policies to navigate the industry’s complexities with confidence. The profession’s physical demands, such as long hours and repetitive movements, have been taxing. Prioritizing self-care and ergonomic practices has been essential. Additionally, building a loyal clientele in a competitive market requires continuous adaptation and effective marketing. Despite these challenges, my dedication to empowering clients through beauty remains steadfast, each obstacle reinforcing my commitment to personal and professional growth.

The abundance of activities, networking opportunities, and job prospects are truly remarkable. Like any city Atlanta traffic is the worse. Despite these minor drawbacks, my affection for Atlanta remains strong. The city’s energy, opportunities, and the genuine connections I’ve made here far outweigh any negatives. It’s a place that continually inspires and motivates me, making it an ideal backdrop for both personal and professional growth.
