Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliyah Parker.
Hi Aliyah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It might sound unexpected, but I started my YouTube channel out of two things: boredom and inspiration. The idea came to me during the height of the pandemic, when I found myself endlessly scrolling through the same streaming platforms—Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max—and still feeling unfulfilled. A good friend suggested I check out some of her favorite YouTubers, and that opened the door to a whole new world of content.
That’s when I discovered “IamZoie.” In a time full of uncertainty and isolation, his videos made me laugh until I cried. His authenticity, humor, and unapologetic personality gave me something I didn’t realize I needed—and it made me think: What if I could be that person for someone else?
From that moment, my channel became more than a distraction. It became my creative outlet, a space where I could show up as my full self without hesitation. Three years later, it’s still my baby—growing, evolving, and, I hope, inspiring others the way I was once inspired.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth or easy road—but it’s absolutely been worth it. When you’re trying to create content consistently, there’s a constant inner dialogue: Is this good enough? Will people even care? One of the biggest things I’ve had to learn is to separate myself from the content. Viewers are judging what you create—not who you are as a person.
That’s easier said than done. Your first instinct might be to get defensive, but part of growing as a creator is learning to lower your guard and not let outside noise distract you from your purpose.
For me, the biggest struggles have been staying consistent, blocking out criticism, and avoiding the trap of comparison. But I’ve learned that the most important thing is to stay focused on your own journey. Create for you—not for the algorithm, not for approval, just for the joy of it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work as a content creator is rooted in authenticity, relatability, and connection. I create lifestyle and commentary videos that reflect real experiences, real thoughts, and real humor. Whether I’m sharing personal stories, reacting to the latest trends, or just having fun on camera, I want my audience to feel like they’re spending time with a friend—someone who gets it.
I specialize in being me. That might sound simple, but in a space that often rewards perfection or trend-chasing, staying true to yourself is a choice—and not always an easy one. I’m known for bringing humor and honesty together in a way that makes people feel seen. If I can make someone laugh, feel inspired, or just a little less alone for a few minutes, then I’ve done my job.
What I’m most proud of is how far my channel has come from something I started out of boredom during the pandemic to something that now brings people joy. It’s still evolving, still growing—and so am I.
What sets me apart is that I’m not trying to fit into a box or be someone I’m not. I create from a real place, and I think people can feel that. At the end of the day, I’m just showing up as myself—and hoping that gives others permission to do the same.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice is to start sooner. Don’t wait for things to be perfect — just pick up the camera and start documenting. Some of the most exciting and meaningful content comes from capturing the real, in-the-moment experiences happening in your life right now. The key is to start, stay consistent, and let your voice evolve along the way.
