Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliza Li.
Aliza, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My love for music is what brought me here today. I do believe music is spiritual, and when I write songs, I can express myself in ways that I may not be able to in everyday life. Music has always been apart of my life in some way or another, but about six years ago, I needed a change where I needed to restart my life from scratch, and starting over is comes with its own challenges and I needed an outlet. Music became my outlet, and I embraced with open arms and realized this is where I need to be/what I wanted in life. So after that, I started to take it seriously. It sound cliche, but music has saved my life, but because no matter what I was feeling/going through, there was always a song for that moment or that feeling. Music made me feel like I was never alone, and I needed that. I hope one day, my music can have that type of influence for someone else.
Has it been a smooth road?
Getting into the music industry has not been easy, and it is still not easy. As an independent artist, there is a lot I have to do on my own, and I had to quickly realize that it’s not all about singing and writing songs. I have to build a brand and sell myself. Putting myself out there has never been my strong suit, but I’m working on it. Honestly, last month I thought about quitting lol, but the universe gave me a sign that I need to keep going. When I reflect on where I came from as far back as six months ago, I know progress is happening, and I can’t ever go back.
Please tell us about your music.
I am a R&B/Soul singer/songwriter and independent music artist. I’m proud of how candid my music is. I think what makes me unique is when you play my songs. You hear pieces of me.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think the industry continue to evolve for the better. Creativity is not something that ever stops. Personally, I hope to build more reliable connections in the music industry that allow me to express my creativity to the fullest. I hope to have a much stronger presence in the indie world and work with other artists/producers that inspire me to take my music to the next level.
