Meet Allie Gibbs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Gibbs.

Hi Allie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach in Women’s Weight Loss. Some people call me a coach, a motivator & inspiration, fitness & nutrition expert, friend, and Sis! But even with those titles, I am also a woman of great faith, wife, mom of three, and business owner. As a Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, I have influenced and inspired many women especially moms alike how to reach their fitness, nutrition and weight loss goals by helping them create self-transformative habits that simplify nutrition and exercise while taking the mystery out of weight loss for lifelong health and wellness.

Like many women, I am a wife and mother who is always on the go doing all the things to show up and help take care of my family and their needs while running a business. For over 12 years, I have gravitated toward health and fitness but staying motivated was not always easy for me. So let’s take it back – I did not start in the fitness and nutrition industry. I was athletic growing up but I was not serious about exercise or eating healthy. As a young adult, I ate what I wanted when I wanted and exercised occasionally. It wasn’t until after I had my daughter that I actually started getting active. I didn’t know what I was doing in the gym so I hired a personal trainer with the mindset to lose the baby weight quickly and go back down to the weight I was in high school. Once I achieved that weight loss goal, I hated it. As a grown woman and new mom, I looked and felt like a teenage kid. Some may think I was lucky but I was not happy with my appearance and body image, so I ate more to put the weight back on which became a huge challenge with me fluctuating in weight and letting the number on the scale dictate my progress and results.

Over the years, I have learned what it takes to live a healthy lifestyle yet still enjoy life itself. By faith, my passion shifted into purpose to empower and teach women that they too can reach their own body goals and make their thoughts of a healthy and fit lifestyle a reality without all the overwhelming pressures of diet culture. Helping women who like me has experienced the struggles of weight loss and body image after having children to not give up on themselves or their goals has kept me strong and wanting to keep going. Health and Fitness has become my safe haven and I have learned and value the importance of taking care of myself physically, mentally, and spiritually in order to be the best version of myself each day not just for me but for my family!

I have built the foundation of QueenFitnessQF on that very concept. To empower, encourage, motivate, and inspire Queens all over the world to live a healthy and fit lifestyle while loving themselves in the process.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I struggled with my body image after each of my children. I was over-critical of my body and those self-crippling thoughts definitely kicked in. So I always tried to rush to lose the weight and fell into a cycle of restrictive dieting, trying weight loss supplements to lose weight fast, just to gain it back with no clear goal in mind. It was draining to say the least!

When life happens, it really happens. Unexpectedly during my last two pregnancies, I developed preeclampsia. Unlike many women whose symptoms reverse after a few weeks, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure (hypertension), which did not reverse. It was then my mindset shifted and I knew I needed to get consistent and make some changes not just in becoming more active but how I viewed food. I became very active in the gym alongside my husband who was in the military at the time. Although we did not always workout together, we were each other’s accountability partners. With the unofficial title amongst family, friends and fellow gym goers, we were known as “the fit couple.” What I didn’t know at the time was that people were truly watching and becoming inspired by my passion for exercise, nutrition and changing my daily habits. I was often asked if I was a personal trainer by how I began to transform my own body.

I believe when God says move, Listen! He knew my struggles were meant to serve and help others for the greater good. So I took a leap of faith and left my corporate career in human resources. In addition to my educational background in psychology and knowing how the mind and body works together, I knew it was connected to weight gain/loss and the behaviors associated with food. I dove into expanding my education and became certified in personal training, nutrition, and weight loss and shortly after I started my own Personal Training and Nutrition Coaching Business.

I know firsthand that it is not always easy to remain consistent on a weight loss journey especially as a busy mom but as I understood the importance of exercise and eating better for my body and long-term health I found what worked for my lifestyle by implementing balance and continuous grace.

It took a long time to get to where I am now in loving my mom body, every scar, every stretch mark, having unshakable confidence and most of all my peace. I truly know that I am my own body goal and you can be too!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I am a San Diego, CA native, born and raised. I grew up as a natural athlete who gravitated to sports and competitive dance as a child. In high school, I ran track and was a varsity cheerleader so I learned the importance of teamwork, ambition and self-confidence early. My family and I moved to Atlanta in late 2018.
