Today we’d like to introduce you to Alysha.
Alysha , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I didn’t wake up one day and accidentally end up in real estate, tax planning, and legal services — this was a very intentional journey built on experience, problem-solving, and a lot of court dates.
I started my career over 18 years ago working in civil litigation and court systems, where I gained a front-row seat to how real estate disputes, evictions, contracts, and financial missteps actually play out after people make decisions. That experience shaped everything I do today because once you’ve seen how things go wrong, you learn how to help people do them right.
From there, I expanded into real estate services, working closely with landlords, investors, and property owners. I realized most people weren’t failing because they lacked opportunity, they were failing because they lacked information. Real estate is powerful, but only when it’s structured correctly and managed legally.
I was a work study in college in the financial aid office, which naturally led me into certified tax preparation and strategic tax planning. I saw too many everyday citizens and investors making money on paper but losing it at tax time. Which is basically the financial version of taking two steps forward and three steps back. So I became certified, educated myself deeply in tax strategy, and built systems that help clients keep more of what they earn legally and intentionally.
Today, I run McDonald Jackson & Associates, LLC, where we bring together real estate services, eviction and compliance support, notary work, credit strategy, and tax planning under one roof. My approach is simple:
educate first, structure smart, protect assets, and plan ahead — because court is expensive and the IRS does not accept excuses.
I’m known for breaking down complex topics into real, understandable language — with just enough humor to remind people that while money and property are serious, learning about them doesn’t have to be painful.
In short, I help people build wealth, protect it, and sleep better at night — and I do it with experience, strategy, and a little personality.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh absolutely not. Smooth roads are for people who skip the tutorial level of life.
If I’m being honest, the journey has been more speed bumps, construction zones, and the occasional detour through “what was I thinking?” than a straight highway.
Early on, one of the biggest struggles was being the person who actually knew what they were doing before people were ready to respect it. When you understand court procedures, real estate law, and tax strategy, people assume things are “easy” — until they try it themselves and end up calling you in a panic at 7:00 a.m. before court.
Another challenge was wearing too many hats at once. I was learning, building, serving clients, fixing problems, and explaining the same concept 12 different ways to 12 different people — all before lunch. Add in real estate deals, tax deadlines, and legal compliance, and suddenly “work-life balance” became a cute phrase people say on podcasts.
There were also moments where I had to outgrow people, systems, and even my own comfort zone. That part is uncomfortable. Growth doesn’t send a calendar invite it just shows up and demands upgrades. Systems had to be rebuilt. Boundaries had to be enforced. And yes, some lessons were tuition-level expensive.
And let’s not forget the reality of working in spaces like real estate and tax planning, where everyone wants results yesterday, but the law, the courts, and the IRS move at their own… very relaxed pace. Patience becomes a survival skill.
But those struggles are exactly why I do what I do the way I do it now. They taught me how to spot problems before they explode, how to structure things correctly from the beginning, and how to help clients avoid the mistakes I already paid for financially and mentally.
So no, it wasn’t smooth — but it was worth it. And now I help people take the paved road instead of learning the hard way like I did… because somebody has to be the cautionary tale, and apparently that was my assignment.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about McDonald Jackson & Associates, LLC?
McDonald Jackson & Associates, LLC is a multifaceted real estate, tax, and asset-strategy firm built for people who want clarity, structure, and protection, not surprises in court or at tax time.
Founded by Alysha McDonald, the firm brings together real estate services, certified tax preparation and planning, eviction and compliance support, notary services, and court-ready documentation under one roof. Known for plain-language explanations, strategic foresight, and systems that stand up under scrutiny, the brand has earned a reputation for helping clients avoid costly missteps while building long-term stability. At its core, the firm is proud to stand for preparedness, integrity, and education helping clients protect what they’re building and move forward with confidence.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What really makes me happy is seeing things work the way they’re supposed to for people who were overwhelmed, confused, or one bad decision away from a much bigger problem.
I’m happiest when a client finally gets it: when the lightbulb goes on, the stress level drops, and they realize, “Oh… this is actually manageable.” Whether it’s helping someone keep their property, structure a business correctly, fix a tax situation, or avoid a mistake that would’ve cost them thousands, that moment of relief never gets old.
I also love building systems… clean, organized, intentional systems. There’s something deeply satisfying about taking chaos and turning it into structure. Real estate, taxes, court processes they’re all puzzles, and I genuinely enjoy solving them.
On a personal level, happiness for me is peace. Peace of mind, clear boundaries, financial stability, and knowing I’ve built something that helps others while also protecting my family and future. I’ve learned that happiness isn’t loud or flashy it’s being prepared, sleeping well at night, and not panicking when life throws a curveball.
And honestly? A well-organized file, a clean plan, a client who says “thank you, I finally understand,” and not having to explain the same thing twenty times in one day that’s my version of joy.
