Meet Amanda Holley of Holley Chiropractic in Jefferson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Holley.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amanda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
At the age of 17, I began feeling the disabling effects of inflammatory arthritis. Dealing with not only the physical pain, but also the emotional component of chronic pain, I decided that I needed to help others in this position. After high school, I went to college for my degree in Physical Therapy. When making this choice, I had NO idea that I would end up finding the love of my life… the human body!!!! I was enveloped in this life of constant study, intrigue, and longing to never stop learning. Suddenly I was obsessed. The streets reminded me of blood vessels, cars were blood cells, I was analyzing a stranger’s gait walking through the mall, and I couldn’t sit through a football game without guessing what ligament was injured based on the position and direction of the trauma! I simply had to know the spinal nerves and peripheral nerves that were supplying my muscles when drying my hair, or jogging, or driving. But it wasn’t until I had already began working in the field of Physical Therapy that I had my epiphany. There IS a greater reason for me to crave this knowledge…. I’ll use it to help people beyond what I am currently practicing. There’s more that I can provide and I can’t stop until I find out exactly what that is.

I began seeing a Chiropractor for my arthritis when in my early 20’s…. life changing. Not only did I get relief, but she taught me how Nutrition can play a role in my pain level. This Doctor gave me a book to read that made my ultimate decision in where my career will take me. Medicine, Monopolies, and Malice, By Chester A. Wilk. THAT’S IT! I want to become a Doctor of Chiropractic. I need to. I will.

The next several years of graduate school fed my hunger for knowledge of the human body each and every second. I was fortunate enough to end up at Sherman College of Chiropractic in the small town of Spartanburg, SC. This was a small campus with a very present nostalgic energy shared by the entire staff, faculty, and student community. This energy was healing, it was innately contagious, it was motivating, it was uplifting, it was inspiring… it was CHIROPRACTIC. The miracles experienced are priceless. The relationships formed are rewarding. The connection and understanding of the body’s science is necessary. The art and philosophy of Chiropractic is a fellowship. This is how becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic added purpose and passion to my life.

After graduating, I worked for two clinics, where I was able to see that I couldn’t progress or much less be content in the medical model of prescription drugs and surgery. I needed to find, build, and spread my OWN nostalgia that is CHIROPRACTIC. I took the plunge to open a cash practice, where the focus is to correct a subluxation and therefore remove interference within the Nervous System to allow the body’s own innate intelligence to heal, grow, adapt, and maintain homeostasis of each and every cell, tissue, muscle, and organ. I opened my practice in 2016 and have had the amazing pleasure of helping many families in their healthcare and healing. From Veterans, to athletes, elderly, to infants, I am able to SERVE others and this community through my purpose and passion of Chiropractic.

Has it been a smooth road?
Chiropractors are required to take a total of 5 National Board exams. My rough roads consisted of late nights with plenty of coffee, not being available to spend much time with family during exams, and mustering up the confidence and determination to take the plunge into being a business owner.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Holley Chiropractic story. Tell us more about the business.
The quality of care at Holley Chiropractic sets me apart. By not accepting insurance, I am able to spend as much time as needed with each and every patient, ensuring that we as a team are meeting health goals and each person is functioning at their optimal potential.

Because my first career was in the field of Physical Therapy, I do have a better understanding of orthopedic surgeries that people have gone through, specific musculoskeletal injures, and treatment of these conditions. I have worked in all settings of care from acute care, to hospitalized rehabilitation, to outpatient orthopedics, pain management, and nutrition.

The goal at HC is to provide affordable quality at your convenience. The cost of visits are affordable enough for a person to have the ability to follow a treatment plan, then progress themselves to a maintenance plan that they feel their best at. Scheduling does sometimes exist outside the “normal” business hours. I’ve came to the office at 6am to help a husband carry his wife in for an adjustment, who was in extreme pain. After Chiropractic care, she walked out of the office. Saturdays and Sundays are also needed occasionally for those with busy work schedules.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Even though I love change and starting new chapters in life, I do not currently feel the need for change. I just recently moved into a larger office space. My goal is to grow in the number of lives I am able to help. I will be completely satisfied with building more of these relationships with families who are ready to start being in charge of their health and live longer, happier lives.
