Meet Amber Johnson of Legacy 31 PR in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Johnson.

Amber, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I stumbled into the world of Public Relations. Prior to college, I wanted to be a broadcast journalist. During one internship, I ended up playing more of a publicist role and I fell in love with public relations.

I’m naturally a person that likes to be in control of everything, so I was head over heels when I found out there was a career path that included writing, public speaking, planning, managing, and everything in between.

After I graduated from college, I had the hardest time finding public relations jobs. Reality of the situation, there were a lot of country music jobs in my area, but that wasn’t the demographic I was familiar with or wanted to focus all of my attention on.

Legacy 31 PR was created because I saw the need for black representation. I wanted to be the agency that represented minority clients, as long as they were ready to brand their legacy.

Legacy 31 wasn’t built overnight. I originally launched in 2016. In 2018, I mentally rebranded myself and from that Legacy 31 got a huge makeover.

2018 for Legacy 31 was such a great year. I gained new clients, solidified the brand, and was blessed with the new amazing team member, Shelby Edwards, and Delena Lacy.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without consistency, discipline, passion and an amazing team, who really thrives off of excellence.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Goodness No! The road hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. The road has been filled with many bumps and curves, but I’m thankful for each struggle that has come my way. It’s constantly preparing me for the next level.

There’s a struggle that comes with being an entrepreneur. People almost look at you crazy when you say you want to have your own business. Then, there’s just a natural struggle that comes with being a publicist. Finding the right clients, making sure you are in the right network, it’s been hard, but I love what I do.

For me, standing firm in myself has been the biggest struggle. I have to remind myself that I am talented and that my team and I deliver results, so we aren’t meant to be cut short.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Legacy 31 PR – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Legacy 31 PR specializes in entertainment, lifestyle, and the arts. We credit ourselves on being black women, who are passionate, personable, and honest people who just genuinely love the industry.

If you’re a client of Legacy 31, then you already know the love I have for our clients. My clients will say I treat them like family, and I really do. I’m a southern girl. I believe in southern hospitality and going the extra mile for people.

I go extremely hard for my clients. Some will say I’m protective of my clients, I sure am! They never have to question am I doing my best work. I’m always working to help better their brand, In today’s time, knowing that someone genuinely has your back and wants you to win, especially when you’re dealing with the entertainment industry is a huge thing.

We are always proud of our clients’ growth. Usually, when they come to us, they are at the beginning of their career and it’s so exciting to see their brands grow and prosper.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plan is to continue to grow. In the next 5-10 years, I would like for Legacy 31 PR to be a nationally well-known PR agency.

I look forward to 2019. I look forward to growing with my team and my clients. I can’t wait until we add more clients to our roster.

I’m excited about networking, I’m excited about the events that Legacy 31 will be hosting and sponsoring this year.
