Meet Amber Shaw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Shaw.

Hi Amber, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida. From a very early age, I became familiar with the word “diet.” By the age of ten, I knew what it felt like to not feel confident and comfortable in my own skin. I was never overweight as a child but I always looked older than I was and so I was always bigger than all the girls and most of the boys. In my early years, I also had several family members comment on my size that really shaped my confidence and self-esteem (in a negative way). Because of this – that feeling of always wanting to be thinner and never feeling satisfied in my body was a theme that has been present most of my life.

In high school, I threw myself into sports and continued to college where my exercise and dysfunctional relationship with food got worse. By the time I got into my early 20s, I was spending hours at the gym and engaging in bulimia on the regular. This was something I hid from the world as I crushed a high-performing sales job and continued to build a life that looked perfect from the outside in. Fast forward to my thirties when I became a wife and a mom of two and found myself working full-time in a high-stress job with a husband who traveled constantly. I was now in this world where I felt everything fall on my shoulders.

To add to my daily stress, I hated my body more than ever before. I gained around 65lbs with BOTH kids and it didn’t go away like I wanted. Those old, insecure feelings and body obsession were completely magnified now that my body had changed so much. I was completely miserable. Not only did I have less time for myself and found it hard to make myself a priority again, but weight loss strategies that worked in the past didn’t seem to work anymore. I continued to bounce from one diet to the next searching for happiness.

I tried every diet on the planet. I would have success and then as soon as I went back to “normal” life, the weight would come back one. I found myself in this vicious cycle of deprivation dieting and was more unhappy in my skin than ever.

It wasn’t until started the inner work and gave up ALL of the dieting – the macro counting, the calorie counting, logging my food – that I found true freedom. I started focusing on clean eating and an effective exercise program that didn’t require hours in the gym and my body AND my mindset changed. I began working on myself and digging deep to heal all of the limiting and destructive beliefs when it came to my self-worth and true confidence.

At the age of 40, my marriage completely fell apart which forced me to evaluate my life even further and do some more soul searching for what I wanted the second half of my life to look like. I had done so much work on myself that I felt deeply called to help other women. This is why I decided to become a coach.

I launched my women’s health coaching business as a side hustle at the end of 2019 and had no idea of what I was doing as an entrepreneur. The pandemic hit and I found myself working from home. Since I didn’t have much going on, I decided to focus on the coaching business. I saw a marketer talk about growing a business on Tiktok and I jumped right in. A few months later – I had a video go viral and before I knew it – I had a business. I actually grew a 6 figure business in about five months. Today I help women 40+ all over the world to lose weight without dieting. I teach women how to live a lifestyle that is effortless and sustainable.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not only were we in the middle of a pandemic when I launched my business but I was also in the middle of a painful divorce.

As you know, we’re big fans of Amber Shaw. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
