Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Cathryn.
Amy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m Amy Cathryn and I’m a psychic medium! I have been intuitive for as long as I can remember. Even when I was a little girl, I can remember getting “feelings” about people that turned out to be right, and vivid dreams that would days later come true. Additionally, I grew up in Central Alabama, where spiritual self-expression outside of organized religion was generally avoided. Being born and raised in a religious household made for an adventurous journey to accepting myself – and my gifts – completely.
As I got older, my spiritual experiences started to intensify. I began to hear voices and feel spirits and things on the other side. Over time my experiences escalated to the point at which I could no longer ignore them. I had two options: believe I was going crazy, or find answers through spirituality. I chose the latter and never looked back. I then pursued metaphysics with an insatiable thirst for spiritual knowledge.
My husband and I moved to Atlanta and for years, I treated it as a hobby to find personal answers while pursuing a career in graphic design. It wasn’t until April of 2016, when I started reading professionally that I was guided by spirit to take my abilities more seriously. Eventually, after realizing and accepting that being a graphic designer was not in-line with my true calling, Spirit finally gave me the opportunity to pursue a career as a psychic and for the second time in my life, I haven’t looked back. I am now a Shaman, a graduate of the Sandy Anastasi System for psychic development, an Usui Reiki master, a tarot reader, astrologer, energy reader, clairvoyant, clairsentient, claircognizant and ordained minister. My goal is to give empowering readings to clients that help them align with their life path.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the major challenges was reprogramming long-held religious beliefs I had since childhood. Especially the fear-based aspects of it. It took me years to begin to accept my gifts as nothing other than a blessing from the divine. Especially my gifts of mediumship. However, once I started accepting my gifts, I truly began to feel empowered.
It was also difficult sorting through the “static” and real messages from divine. Separating the static from real messages was a true journey and has also been an opportunity to humble myself and work on myself even more.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
My company is based on my first and middle name, Amy Cathryn. I specialize in delivering channeled messages directly from a client’s guides and angels. I’m also a fine artist and offer aura portraits and animal totem paintings, focusing primarily on watercolors. A lot of clients know me for my mediumship gifts and for reading tarot cards. I also practice reiki therapy and energy clearing. I do readings in both Roswell, GA and at Forever and a Day in Woodstock, GA.
As a psychic, I am proud of my ethics. There are a lot of misconceptions about psychics, so I strive to educate clients on how to spot the good readings from the not-so-good ones. It’s important as a spiritual consultant to continually perform “self-checks” to make sure I’m remaining ethical and responsible as a reader because some clients come for spiritual advice from a place of vulnerability. So my job is to always allow my clients to walk away feeling empowered.
What were you like growing up?
I was the shy, sweet kid growing up. Definitely a wallflower. I was always nerdy and loved knowledge. I’ve been a ballerina, played piano and was on the swim team, but my most enjoyable hobby from childhood was martial arts. I received a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. As a kid, that really helped my self-esteem. I was also big into anime and art. As a kid, I loved to draw before I could write and it never went away.
