Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Baldis.
Hi Amy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When a person becomes a spiritual facilitator for a living, it’s because magick has found them.
Growing up, I knew I was empathic — even before I knew what it was called. I had a knack for knowing things about people and was sensitive to other people’s emotions.
I eventually started having precognitive dreams that would come true and began hearing voices. I tried looking to science for answers to explain these odd symptoms, to no avail.
Eventually, I began looking to spirituality for answers. It was daunting at first because I grew up in a strict Pentacostal household in suburban Central Alabama — there was a lot of fear of the unknown. Yet, I eventually found the spiritual help I needed.
Over the years, I became more curious about my spirituality and took classes on reiki, shamanism and psychic development.
Meanwhile, I graduated college with a degree in graphic design, only to discover years later that it wasn’t a field I enjoyed. However, Spirit carved out a path for me to take this journey as the next phase in my life, and I took a leap. I haven’t looked back since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Perhaps the biggest hurdle when changing your career — especially if it involves spirituality and self-employment — is self-doubt. I had to learn to trust myself and trust Spirit to make it happen. After all, I cannot be a beacon of faith for others if I myself have none.
I had to learn that abundance is a state of being and not a pursuit. It is something that is emanated and not chased. Once I learned to lean on and trust Spirit, I began watching Spirit provide for me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a full-time psychic medium and fine artist based in Atlanta. I focus on readings that are a combination of channeling, mediumship, tarot and astrology. I am most known for my channeled readings (talking to guides) and mediumship. I also teach tarot classes, reiki classes, and psychic development classes under the Phoenix System for psychic development (trademark pending).
I would say I’m most proud of my unwavering ethics. Unfortunately, psychics get a bad rap because the field itself doesn’t have a baseline for ethics. Doctors have the Hippocratic Oath, lawyers have legal obligations and therapists have codes of conduct. That’s part of the reason we can put our trust in them because we understand that they have a minimum level of quality they are obligated to adhere to.
Psychics don’t have a code of conduct — and unfortunately, many take advantage of this. However, I’m hoping I can help change this by creating a minimum set of standards. Through my courses, I hope to facilitate and spread awareness for these basic guidelines so practitioners and clients alike can help raise the bar. Hopefully, through these standards, we can see the spiritual field grow and eventually be taken more seriously.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I have a 6-month psychic development course that I will be teaching annually that launches in July. I also plan on eventually offering online courses for the classes I currently teach.
In this gig economy, it’s easy to see how personal wellness and spiritually-themed topics have grown in popularity. With the rise of the internet and access to all types of knowledge at our fingertips, it’s no wonder people are slowly moving away from organized religion and seeking more personal spiritual beliefs.
I suspect more psychic development courses and themes will come out as this field grows.
