Meet Amy Rose of Accessorize with Amy in Augusta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Rose.

Amy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always loved helping people and just talking to other women, getting to know them. I have been creative from childhood, so I wondered then “what I would be when I grew up.” My first two professions were in Graphic Design and then teaching, both of which perfectly matched my gifts and personality. I began my business with Premier Designs Jewelry ten years ago, as a mother of two very young children. I missed the interaction I’d had in the professional sphere and wanted to use my gifts in a new and fun way. I found out early on that being an accessory styling consultant is another form of teaching. I now use my gifts of teaching, compassion, and most importantly, the gift of gab, to teach women how to accentuate their personal style and to look their best by using accessories.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It started out surprisingly smoothly, other than working around my husband’s crazy work schedule. I was so excited about what I was doing, and found that women, no matter how busy their professional and personal lives, need “girl time.” They were drawn to the idea of getting together with a few friends and learning about fashion. As my children have gotten older and more involved in extra-curricular activities (and taking me along for the ride!), it’s been difficult for me at times to devote the kind of time I need to grow my business the way I did in the first few years.

Accessorize with Amy – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Accessorize with Amy is what I would call an “event-based” business, the events being things like Style Sessions, Wardrobe Workshops, and Fundraisers. My primary goal is to get women together – at someone’s home, at an office, at a coffee shop or restaurant – to teach them about current fashion trends and show them how they can update their look just by adding high fashion jewelry to their wardrobe. I do this in a way that isn’t just informative, but fun – every event is a “girls’ night out” for me, too! I also love to work one-on-one with ladies, teaching them how to “shop from their closet” – to put outfits together from clothes they already own, love, and feel comfortable in. I then show them which pieces of jewelry can showcase their personal style with those outfits. The thing I love most about my partnership with Premier Designs Jewelry is that our jewelry is always on-trend. The thing that REALLY sets it apart is the built-in versatility of the pieces. Women have come to know that when they buy jewelry from me, it will be of great quality, backed by a guarantee, and VERSATILE.

What role has luck (good luck or bad luck) played in your life and business?
Honestly, I really don’t believe in luck. I believe in hard work and faith. I have prayed for the success of my business since its beginning ten years ago, and the longer I have been doing this, the more I feel like this is what I’m supposed to be doing. I have seen women change the way they see themselves just by putting on a necklace and seeing the other women’s reactions to it. I’ve seen women who have been going through a difficult time in their lives uplifted by the interaction they experienced at one of my events. These things make all the hard work worth it!
