Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre Questelles.
Andre, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I first started the brand, I wanted to think of something that was different from anything that I was already seeing, something that had meaning to it. With that, I started thinking of things that I am big on such as being yourself. I started off with the idea of a mask on an animal to go along with the name True Instinct. You always hear someone say an animal can be domesticated but it still has its true Instincts. I wanted to relate that to us humans in today’s society. We are always trying to mask who we truly are due to the surroundings we are put in as if we were domesticated also. So I wanted to give the message that we should embrace who we truly are, instead of trying to cover it up with a mask with something we aren’t.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It wasn’t a smooth road because there was the thoughts that no one would like the design or even the message behind it. What I had to learn was that those worries and thoughts are what keep you from succeeding and moving forward. There will always be some form of struggle or bumpy road, but its that struggle you use to push you even further
True Instinct – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company is a streetwear brand for all ages. I am proud to see my brand slowly moving up, just seeing people wearing my brand is an amazing feeling. What sets me apart from others is that, I don’t want to be just another graphic tee shirt company, I want my message to be relayed all over the world and for people to know that it is okay to be yourself because who is a better you than you.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My definition of success is to never give up even when you fall. Pushing as hard as you can go and even pass that is what success is, no matter if you’re just starting up, or you’re already flourishing. That continued push is what matters. You only fail when you give up.
