Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Harrison.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My introduction to creating paper flower art has been very organic. A couple of years ago I was planning a party for my birthday and wanted a really jaw-dropping, epic backdrop where my guests could take photos. So, I did what most people do for inspiration, looked on Pinterest! Then I saw what has seriously changed my life..paper flower walls! I was just struck with awe and knew this was what I wanted. I asked one of my girlfriends who I considered quite handy with a glue gun to help me, but unfortunately, we couldn’t coordinate our calendars. I was very nervous but decided to try and make the wall by myself.
Now, keep in mind the only glue gun I had ever used was to help my son with his school projects, and that was years ago. When I found the gun It was tucked away, dusty and had hardened glue on it. I bought some paper, a flower template and started tracing and cutting away. I found my happy place. I felt so serene and peaceful as I created the flowers for my wall. I absolutely loved seeing plain boring cardstock transform into a finished beautiful, paper flower. The wall was the talk of the party and a new business was born.
Has it been a smooth road?
Fortunately, I haven’t experienced too many bumps along the way. When I first started my business, I contacted several social media influencers to inquire if they would be willing to collaborate. I would create an arrangement, and they would post it on their Instagram page. I was so excited that several influencers loved the flowers and agreed to post and tag me. Most posted as agreed, but a few influencers failed to tag me in the post. And without documentation outlining my terms, I gave away valuable product and received nothing in return. I quickly learned that if I was going to turn my flower hobby into a business, I had to treat it like one!

My proudest moment was landing my very first client, Simon Malls. I thought my flowers would look great at the guest services desk at Lenox so I decided to email the Marketing Manager. To my surprise, she responded almost immediately. But she didn’t want a bouquet…she wanted a wall for Phipps Plaza’s annual Bloggers Brunch! I was beyond thrilled, shocked and excited. Since creating that first wall, I’ve continued to develop displays and projects for Phipps, Lenox, South Park Mall in North Carolina, Porsche Headquarters, Kulture City Gala in Birmingham, numerous weddings and events.
