Meet Andrea Montobbio of STK Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Montobbio.

Andrea, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in Capriata d’Orba, a little town in Northern Italy, I have been surrounded by Italian cuisine my entire life. My appreciation for fresh, pure ingredients began at a young age in my family’s garden and it wasn’t long before I realized I wanted to pursue a professional path in the culinary world.

Growing up in Italy, I was taught at a young age the value of using pristine ingredients.

My philosophy is to respect the food, start with quality products, and allow the flavors to permeate the dish.

After studying at the prestigious Marco Polo in Genova, Italy, I moved to Camogli to continue my studies at the Guglielmo Marconi School where I mastered the basics. At the very young age of 21 I made the move to the United States, settling in Atlanta where I honed culinary expertise over the years at notable Atlanta restaurants including Pricci, Enoteca Carbonari, NEO at The Mansion on Peachtree.

I joined The One Group family in New York City in 2012 as executive chef at the Gansevoort Park Hotel. Then recently moved back to Atlanta, taking over as executive chef of STK Atlanta in early 2017.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always challenges in this industry. At the end of the day if our guests are happy that’s all that matters.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with STK Atlanta – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
STK is a non-traditional American steakhouse. “Not your daddy’s steakhouse” We offer a high energy dining experience with a strong focus on excellent service in a sleek modern setting. People come, of course, for the steak but also for the party at STK Atlanta.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
STK Atlanta is always evolving. With our menu changing seasonally, the hottest new DJ’s spinning on the weekends and current offerings like our Thursday night “Oyster Happy Hour” there is always something fresh and exciting going on.
