Meet Andrew Wright of Crabapple Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Wright.

Andrew Wright

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up, my father taught me about the power of the body to heal itself. When I would get a cold, he would give me vitamins and herbs to boost my immune system to help me get healthy. I rarely took medicine when I was younger. Then, when I was in college, I discovered chiropractic. My first chiropractor was not only a good doctor but an excellent teacher as well. Every week, when I went in for my adjustment, he would teach me something new about the vitalistic principle and the power of chiropractic. Between my father’s attitude toward health and my chiropractic experience, I developed a passion for helping the body heal through diet, exercise, and, of course, chiropractic care.

I graduated from Life University’s College of Chiropractic in December of 2017 and opened my practice in Chamblee. I focused on a unique type of chiropractic called NetworkSpinal or Network Chiropractic. After practicing Network for a few years, my journey led me to discover the healing potential of infrared light. Similar to chiropractic, it stimulates your body’s natural healing power to function more effectively. Around that time, my wife and I decided to move to Roswell, and I opened Crabapple Wellness in Milton. I have partnered with Total Health Solutions and Dr. Nick Sudano to bring both chiropractic care and cold laser therapy to our patients. I specialize in using a class IV medical laser to help people heal pain and injuries using infrared light. Whether it is a sprained ankle chronic shoulder pain, or even peripheral neuropathy caused by conditions like diabetes, the laser can help the body heal and get out of pain more quickly.

I only just recently opened my practice, and my wife and I are expecting our first child, a baby boy, in May, so it is a very exciting time in my life. I love the Crabapple community and am excited to be working in the Milton/Alpharetta area.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My first practice that I opened in Chamblee was definitely a learning experience. Network Chiropractic is a very unique and powerful technique. Unfortunately, not many people have ever heard of Network. There are very few doctors who practice it, and I had a difficult time building my patient base. Additionally, Covid started about six months after I opened, which cost me 2/3 of my practice overnight and eventually led me to close my practice in the fall of 2023. Through the journey, though, I learned how to truly empathize with my patients and developed a deep love and respect for the body’s ability to heal itself. I learned that there is a time and a place for medical intervention but that it, too, has limits. I heard too many stories about the misguided efforts of medical doctors that eventually left patients with less answers and more pain. I grew to respect chiropractic and other natural healing methods as the future of healthcare. Most importantly for my growth as a business owner and doctor, I learned a powerful protocol for helping people heal neuropathy, and I eventually found the laser that I currently use. It provides even better results with neuropathy and can help heal everything from a disc herniation or tennis elbow to a torn labrum or arthritis.

As you know, we’re big fans of Crabapple Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Crabapple Wellness is the culmination of nearly 10 years of chiropractic study and practice. I am proud of this business and how powerfully I can help people on their healing journey. My focus is helping people heal using my laser. There are two types of patients that I love working with: people with injuries and people who have neuropathy. As I have mentioned, an injury could be a broken bone or chronic knee pain. I know what it is like to live with pain and also know how wonderfully sweet it is when you finally get relief. I was an athlete in high school and college and can remember how frustrating it was to be sidelined because of an injury. I love hearing people tell me that they can exercise or lift their coffee mug in the morning without pain. “Hey, Dr. Andrew, guess how many miles I ran this morning” is becoming a regular conversation starter in my practice.

A colleague of mine put it this way: “Cancer is terrible because it can kill you, but neuropathy is worse because it puts you in a prison.” I have worked with dozens of people suffering with neuropathy, and this statement definitely seems to be true. Neuropathy has hundreds of causes and only gets worse unless it is treated correctly. Unfortunately, the medical system only uses pain management medications or injections that don’t actually heal the nerves. I have personally worked with patients who are on 3000mg of gabapentin daily and are still in excruciating pain. For reference, the starting dose is typically 100-300mg daily. The program that I offer helps to heal the underlying causes of neuropathy, so the results are long-lasting. I can help people get their life back in as little as six weeks of treatment. It is so much fun as a doctor to watch someone come into the office using a walker and, six weeks later, see them walking on their own with a big smile.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was the first time I caught a fish. I was born in Milwaukee, WI, and we would go to northern Wisconsin every summer with my mother’s side of the family. We all rented cabins on a lake and would spend days waterskiing or going to antique shops in the small town nearby. My grandmother, Violet, took me out in a rowboat to her “secret” fishing spot across the lake and showed me how to put a worm on the hook. I caught my first fish: a bluegill that was about two inches long. I could hardly contain my excitement, and I proudly showed off my catch to my parents when we got back to the dock afterwards. It is becoming more rare that my extended family gets together since my grandmother passed away in 2013, so I cherish the memories I made in the North woods of Wisconsin with everyone together.
