Meet Aneri Desai

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aneri Desai.

Hi Aneri, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am Aneri Desai. A first-generation immigrant, a mom and a career coach. I was born and raised in India. In 2010, I bought a one-way ticket to USA to pursue my “American Dream”. With hopes and dreams, I began my MBA as an international student. over a decade later, I am living my dream life overlooking a golf course and beautiful pond in my cozy neighborhood outside of Columbia, SC. Life was not this fun and smooth when I had just arrived here in the United States. After working odd jobs and living paycheck to paycheck, I landed my first corporate job in an Aerospace company in Savannah, GA. After working for 8 years in corporate America, I retired to become a career coach for immigrant women with hope and vision to elevate the journey of immigrants with roots across the globe.

In the last 2 years, I have empowered 100+ immigrant women to restart and elevate their careers by landing over $18 Million in job offers. I offer mentorship and guidance on how to own our story and stand out in competitive job market with foreign degrees and work experience.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Working in a labor job in a day and focusing on MBA coursework being the youngest student in the class was challenging. Moreover, navigating life and career in a foreign land was even bigger obstacle in early immigrant life. I had degrees but did not know how to get noticed by companies for jobs and how to convince employers to sponsor me visa to work for them. Struggling to find my voice and being at the mercy of others to see my worth was emotionally draining. After hundreds of rejections for my job applications, I cracked the code for a successful job search. You need to be in front of decision-makers instead of simply submitting your resume/job application online. Having an ally or advocate who can share your resume with the hiring manager or decision-maker is a game changer!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Through my career coaching services, I help first and second-generation immigrant women with roots across the globe to be financially independent. In the last two years I have supported 100+ immigrant women from 17 countries to land job offers worth of $18 Million in North America.

I mainly work with women who migrated to North America with their family, to study or to accompany their skilled immigrant work spouse. Be it a stay at home mom with 5-10 years of career break, an international student with no prior work experience or a mid-level professional looking for senior leadership roles- my customized and personalized 12-week career coaching program works for everyone.

My proudest success stories are:

1) An immigrant woman with 10+ years career gap landed a job in one of the top Digital Marketing agency and bought her dream home.
2) A year international student landed a regional head role in one of the biggest manufacturing company 5 months before graduation.
3) A stay-at-home dad with 7 years of career break got an admission in elite masters’ program and restarted his career.
4) A stay-at-home mom with 1000+ rejections and 5 years of career break got admission in master’s program with more than 50% scholarship and landed a 6-figure job in the biggest payroll company in Atlanta, bought her dream home and inspired the immigrant community to go after their dreams.

My clients work in Microsoft, Amazon, Canadian Tire, Cisco, EY, Deloitte, 7-Eleven, Walmart, Salesforce, Mackenzie, Oracle, Goldman Sachs, Warner Media, Comcast and many more start-ups and Fortune 500 companies in the US and Canada.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I advocate for an equal employment opportunity and financial independence for women. No matter who your father, partner, son, brother is – women need to have their identity outside of their family, have a bank account and financial independence.
