Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Sankey.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Angel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am the CEO of Angelic Skin and Body LLC, located in College Park at One Touch Healing Hands. In August 2017, I started attending Kennesaw State University to finish my degree in public relations with only three semesters left until graduation. My semester started out great until September 5th, 2017, when my maternal grandmother passed away from cancer. Prior to my grandmother passing, I remember walking into her bedroom, wishing that the pain and suffering I was going through would go away. I questioned if I should take a break away from everything that I was going through from my grandmother’s illness, leaving a toxic relationship, working a part-time job at Ross, battling my inner turmoil on top of being a full-time student.
After my grandmother’s funeral, I felt my spirit shifting away from school and started to research business ideas for months. I found myself being surrounded by business-driven people. My best friend, Corey Campbell, is an amazing photographer, and he motivated me to start my own mobile hookah business. After facing a tragic moment during the spring semester, I started to do tons of research and started to invest into my business. After the tragedy of grieving from my grandmother, and a hard time in my Spring semester, I started to feel my depression and anxiety become overwhelming, my concentration on school decreased significantly, and I was unable to complete my semester to the best of my ability.
During the summer of 2018, I decided to leave school to focus on me and my mental health. I refocused on my hookah business, Smoking Angels, and became unstoppable. Weeks before my Smoking Angels launching, everything I invested was stolen from me. I didn’t let it break me. Fast Forward to November 2019, clients started to gravitate to me for tinting and shaping their eyebrows, and I decided to dig deeper into my gift and invested into Microblading, in which Angelic Brow Artistry was born, while still managing to a work full-time job. In March 2019, I was laid-off from my job and started Esthetician school in May 2019 while still maintaining my clientele in the beauty business by doing brows and other side gigs. I finally found my passion in school and graduated on February 13, 2020.
Prior to graduating, I became an ambassador for a skincare line, KAAS LUXURY SKINCARE, holding a title as the Esthetician and Skincare advisor. With my drive and ambition, I had the honor to be apart of the Bronner Brothers Show February 2020. After Speaking on the main stage at Bronner Bros., my great clientele, and my amazing support from my family and friends, I was moved to continue to run into my purpose in life and grind hard in the beauty industry as an Esthetician and CEO of Angelic Skin and Body LLC.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to success is never easy. Definitely not for me! Everything I faced within the past three years, the highs and lows, I had a strong support system that helped me through my depression and anxiety. My mother always reminded me of my drive, worth, and ambition. Therefore, I became more humble and sane and continue to keep running in my purpose.
We’d love to hear more about Angelic Skin And Body.
I am an esthetician and owner of Angelic Skin and Body. I specialize in skin care and body waxing. I am known for being a skincare advisor and brow artist. I am most proud of my company’s growth with the ability to continue growing in a billion dollar industry. Angelic Skin and Body is about providing valuable knowledge for skincare and providing quality services that will have all clients leaving with confidence.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I would say my spiritual strength and faith have taught and guided me to where I am and who I am becoming. I’ve learned to take every bad situation and turn it into a lesson. Being a business owner and woman, I face many obstacles and my brain is constantly working to become greater and my body follows into that greatness. Lastly, in life and business, I became a risk-taker no matter what I’ve invested, what may seem impossible, there is a possibility.
Therefore, I’ve never been the one to truly believe in Luck. With the support of family and friends and keeping God first in my life, I am blessed!
