Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Reliford.
Hi Angela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I identify as a creative artist, writer, storyteller, advocate, and entrepreneur. My journey began with modeling and content creation, but it quickly expanded into faith-based work and advocacy. I spent years creating Bible studies, teaching people about God, and encouraging others—especially Black women—to stand up for themselves, embrace who they are, and understand that while people may form opinions about you, you still have the right to define yourself and live in truth.
Over time, my work became more layered. I learned how powerful storytelling can be—not just creatively, but personally and spiritually. My path has been shaped by reclaiming my voice, turning adversity into purpose, and finding creative expression through hardship. Faith and resilience have been constant anchors for me, especially while building something meaningful from the ground up rather than following a traditional or expected path.
Today, I continue to work across multiple lanes. Alongside my advocacy and creative projects, I’m currently developing a 40-day fasting workbook designed to help people strengthen themselves spiritually and emotionally, understand what they’re experiencing day-to-day, and approach healing in healthy, sustainable ways—including guidance on refeeding and self-care. That project is expected to be published soon and reflects my passion for helping others navigate challenging seasons with clarity and hope.
At the core of everything I do is the desire to empower people—to help them feel seen, understood, and capable of moving forward with confidence. If someone walks away from my story feeling inspired, hopeful, and curious about who I am and what I’m building, then I’ve done what I set out to do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to navigate misunderstanding, projection, and resistance—especially as a Black woman who doesn’t fit neatly into one box. When you’re creative, outspoken, faith-driven, and independent, people often try to define you before truly understanding you.
There were seasons where I had to rebuild my confidence and sense of direction after being misunderstood or mischaracterized. Balancing creativity, faith, advocacy, and entrepreneurship while protecting my mental and emotional well-being required a lot of inner work. I’ve also had to learn how to set boundaries, trust my discernment, and stay grounded when external noise or pressure tried to distract me from my purpose.
Financial uncertainty, emotional fatigue, and moments of isolation were very real parts of the journey. But those challenges ultimately strengthened me. They taught me resilience, clarity, and how to move with intention instead of reaction. Looking back, the obstacles weren’t detours—they were part of the formation process that shaped who I am today and how I show up in the world.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work lives at the intersection of creativity, faith, storytelling, and advocacy. As an artist and creative, I specialize in using written and visual expression to help people make sense of their experiences, reclaim their voice, and move through adversity with clarity and purpose. Whether through writing, content creation, or guided reflection, my focus is on helping others feel seen, grounded, and empowered.
I’m known for blending honesty with intention—creating work that is emotionally real but rooted in hope, resilience, and self-awareness. Much of what I do is informed by faith, personal growth, and lived experience, which allows me to connect with people who may be navigating uncertainty, healing, or transition in their own lives.
One of the projects I’m most proud of is my upcoming 40-day fasting workbook, designed to support people spiritually and emotionally through daily structure, reflection, and healthy practices. It’s a project that came directly from listening to what people needed and creating something practical, compassionate, and accessible.
What sets me apart is my ability to move across multiple spaces without losing my voice. I don’t create from a place of performance—I create from lived truth. I’m intentional about honoring complexity, encouraging self-definition, and reminding people that growth doesn’t require perfection, only honesty and commitment.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Growing up, I was a very quiet and imaginative child. I spent a lot of time in my own inner world—daydreaming, observing, and thinking. Rather than one specific moment, what stands out most to me is the sense of solitude I often felt, and how comfortable I became being with myself.
I remember spending time alone, letting my thoughts wander, imagining different lives and possibilities, and finding meaning in reflection rather than noise. Even though I didn’t always have the language for it at the time, those quiet moments shaped how I see the world and how I process experiences.
Looking back now, I realize that those early tendencies laid the foundation for who I am today as a writer and storyteller. Learning to sit with my thoughts, listen inwardly, and make sense of emotions became a strength later in life. What once felt like simply being “the quiet kid” ultimately became the space where creativity, insight, and resilience were formed.
