Meet Anik Keuller of Anik Flowers in North Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anik Keuller.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I believe that floral design found me. My love for arranging flowers began during the 1996 Olympics here in Atlanta, Georgia. I was putting arrangements together for a catering company at the Fox Theatre, and someone asked me if I did the floral arrangements for a living. I had never thought of making it a profession, but their question sparked an interest.

I then began working for a local designer who supplied many florals to Atlanta’s premier hotels, local art galleries, and restaurants.

In the year 2000, I had the opportunity to work in Brussels, Belgium at a local floral shop, and it was there I was able to polish my trade. Europe has a way of teaching you to stop and smell the roses.

I returned to the United States with a newfound appreciation for the way European culture embraces flowers as such an intricate part of their lives. In 2003, I began working in wedding flowers. I fell in love with the brides and the romance of the day and working with couples in general. I enjoyed working in weddings so much I decide to make it my focus niche. Having a background in catering, weddings were a natural tapestry for me.

Has it been a smooth road?
There are definitely struggles. Running your own business is not for everyone, but I love it! I had some personal road blocks, but found it is all about attitude, and having a drive and purpose behind your passion. Today my work is about personality and transparency. The result is arrangements that have their own unique style with a European and natural, yet elegant panache.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I create floral arrangements and décor for personal and corporate events, specializing in wedding florals.

I truly care about meeting the needs of my clients and more. As I meet with them, I draw inspiration from who they are and their style. It is why every floral arrangement I create is so unique, because no client is the same.

What sets me apart is my attention to detail. Every bud and bloom is part of a grand masterpiece that transforms their event into a beautiful, romantic landscape.

Weddings are close to my heart because they celebrate love, they are so full of joy, hope, and expectancy.

I take great care in the blooms that I choose, and only the highest quality and most beautiful are selected. I love to find unique greenery, or potted plants that no one else uses. It is a very personal and creative interaction with the beauty of creation for me.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is vibrant with weddings! The locations cannot keep up. It seems like there are weddings being celebrated in all months of the year. With such a booming wedding market, there are a variety of talented wedding vendors coming on the scene to serve all of these couples.

To the newcomers, I would say if you truly love what you do, go for it! But you have to love it. It takes gusto to run a business on your own, and the special events market is competitive. Know who you are and have fun with it.

I think the city really needs more flower markets! It is growing a lot because there are new and young floral farmers growing fresh flowers locally, but I wish we had open markets like New York City. I think people are getting more into enjoying the beauty of fresh cut flowers. I hope that flower arrangements will become something that people truly desire in their homes every day, as they do in Europe.
