Today we’d like to introduce you to Anika Abraham.
Anika, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My business all started off my freshman year in college, I was doing hair in my dorm room at Delaware State University. I made wigs, colored hair and did sew-ins. I started doing my own hair right before I went to college because I could no longer depend on my sister to give me all the styles I wanted being so far away. But anyway, it was called Hairbyneeks. About a year out of college, things weren’t the best couldn’t find a job in the communications and TV production industry, so I decided to start TheWinkLash. I would be selling mink lashes.
By this time, I was heavily involved in makeup, hair and everything beauty. I had high moments and I had low moments just trying to find my passion and true purpose. I realized this was something I wanted to make a career out of but I also wanted to stand out. I didn’t want to just sell a product, I also wanted to be able to provide a service. This caused me to rename my business and rebrand. I Thought about Timeless Beauty Studios one night. I thought about it for a while. I wanted to be able to envision my brand’s name on a storefront. Eventually, I was sold on it .something that is timeless never goes out of style, it’s always new, it’s always fresh. And that’s what I love most about my brand I’m always growing and learning. Today Timeless Beauty Studios sells lashes, glosses & Hair and we provide hairstyling services, lash extensions, and nail services. Currently, we are in the process of redeveloping and adding even more products and services to give our clients and customers the best.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a smooth road and honestly, I’m still learning and trying to master this whole entrepreneur thing. I’ve felt discouraged many times and I’ve also doubted myself a lot. I think the most important thing is not giving up and being okay with failing; sometimes, it’s honestly normal. No one gets it right the first time, maybe not even the second time, but with persistence and hard work, it’s possible.
Most of my struggles were internal. I had a bad habit of trying to compare my success to others on social media. I had to learn that everyone’s journey is different and just because things are happening quickly for others doesn’t mean it won’t ever happen for me. Timing is everything. Entrepreneurship is a rollercoaster you have good days and bad days, but every day, you have to believe in yourself and know that you’re capable. Every day, I remind myself of that.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Timeless Beauty Studios – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Timeless Beauty Studios is literally a ONE Stop Shop. A client can come to get their hair, nails, makeup and lashes done the same day. There’s no need for them to go anywhere else. That’s my favorite thing about my business you’ll never leave the way you came in, you’ll leave with a lot more confidence and you’ll definitely feel beautified. I’m proud of how we’ve developed. A lot of people just provide a service or provide a product but we do both. We do hair, we sell hair, we do lash extensions, we sell lash strips, we do nails and we’re working on adding press on nails to our list of products, and lastly, we do natural glam beats and sell glosses. And There’s so much more to come this is only the start!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m looking forward to the beauty shop of my dreams. It won’t be your ordinary beauty bar. There are a lot of changes being made. New products are coming out, and a lot more services will be provided.
