Meet Annysa LaMantia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annysa LaMantia.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Annysa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in a home which was an active art studio (picture mannequin body parts laying around). My parents, who are both artists, always fostered and encouraged my artistic nature.  I  have distinct memories of painting my bedroom walls in the middle of the night and in the morning, getting, “Great job, honey!” as feedback.

It came as no surprise that I gravitated to the field of Interior Design– and graduating was not a menial task! I went through a rigorous four-year program which cut 200 hopefuls down to 12 students. While in school I took an internship in NYC with KBA Architects and learned a great deal about big-city business and contemporary design. After graduation, my twin sister and I moved to Florence, Italy. The rich art history had a strong impact on me. I was living the dream, but I was ready to get to work- and so, I moved to Atlanta.

Once in ATL, I started working for the luxury furniture brand Roche Bobois. It was still the rocky recession, but I was in my early twenties and hungry and I soon became a million dollar salesperson. My work with the company allowed me to travel overseas frequently, and at 26 years old I became the GM for many years.

I left Atlanta to move back to Italy to apprentice with renowned furniture designer Maurizio Manzoni and his team at Studio Memo. I learned a great deal by participating in their design process. I visited workshops in the Italian countryside as they facilitated and edited the prototypes for their latest projects and worked as an English translator for their international business projects. It was an invigorating experience!

At the top of 2018, I was back in Atlanta and kicked off the opening of my Interior Design studio in the historic Old Fourth Ward district. Energized by my Italian training and inspired by my new location (just blocks from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s birthplace and memorial) – I hit the ground running!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I like to view any situation which arises and appears “unfavorable” as a creative opportunity — and let’s just say, I’ve had many opportunities to be creative! Maintaining a positive mentality as I’ve traveled down the road has been key for me.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Annysa LaMantia Design story. Tell us more about the business.
Annysa LaMantia Design is a luxury residential and commercial interior design firm based in Atlanta, GA which provides an array of design services including interior architecture for new build construction, remodeling, furnishing, finish selections, art curation, and custom furniture design services. We work nationally on interior design projects including the markets in Los Angeles and New York City.

We’re proud to say we’ve preformed design services for some of the nation’s top business moguls, entertainers and sports players including R&B singer Bobby Valentino, Singer/songwriter Khalid , NBA star Lou Williams, NFL star A.J. Bouye, and more. We’ve also designed for incredible institutions in the Atlanta metro area, most recently the Walter Young and Andrew Young YMCA teen center in partnership with the Trust in Giving Foundation.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
That’s a very excellent question. I believe strongly that God has a plan for my life and I do my very best to be a good sport! I put in the work and listen for my next set of instructions 🙂 I give the universe the benefit of the doubt at all times and attempt to be as grateful as humanly possible for the opportunities I’m provided.

I always enjoy stories of creative challenges followed by creative success. An artist’s work always gets better when it is tempered by exploration, struggle, and wisdom gained. Congratulations of dreaming big!
