Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Bammer and Vincent Bracey.
Anthony and Vincent, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Synovia began when Vincent and I noticed that many Bariatric patients did not feel comfortable going to a regular gym and have already tried weight loss centers numerous times with no long-term results. So, we created Synovia to be a place of acceptance for bariatric patients to feel comfortable in their own skin while training alongside others who have also had a very similar journey. We knew that far beyond exercise training there is a deeper component to long-term success for bariatric patients, primarily a strong support system which many do not have, constant support and encouragement to build confidence and clinical staff that understands their specific needs. Now, we have some partnerships with prominent facilities around the Marietta and Atlanta areas.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely not. Initially starting out we did not have a space so we offered training outside at local parks. After a few months, we were able to acquire a space from a friend who was selling his facility. Thankfully, we both have been in the fitness/wellness industry for quite some time so we already knew how we would market and get foot traffic. Once we began seeing patients regularly, we felt ecstatic, however soon we started thinking “how do we want to grow?” “what does this look like 10-15 years from now?” And so, we began that process and decided to begin partnering with the bariatric medical community.

Synovia specializes in the community health of bariatric patients. We have a 4 pillar model of Medicine, Nutrition Exercise & Behavior Modification. We specialize in guiding bariatric patients through the delicate process of weight loss both during their bariatric process and post-surgery. Patients typically are dealing with many other factors including health-related risks as well as family and personal traumatic issues that have played a part in their weight gain. We provide a judgment-free small group environment for patients to thrive and rebuild their confidence through group support both from their clinical professional as well as their exercise group. We are known for being professional, yet inviting to patients and visitors, supportive and dedicated to truly helping others make positive life changes. As a company, we are most proud of the accomplishments of the individuals we serve; it is a truly magical thing to watch individuals change both inside and out… not just for the “summer bod” but for life. We are different from others in that we have a specific targeted four-stage process for each bariatric patient to complete that ensures their long-term success.
The other project is actually a non-profit called G1VE Atlanta. It will be a series of kiosks around the city to provide 24/7 access to shelters and direct transportation in the street to and from shelters. The goal being to bring revenue to the city and build short term housing for the homeless. The website is a g1veatl.org.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very active in sports and outdoor activities. When I was around 12, I began lifting weights and fell in love with the gym and training. I was always interested in the sciences and remained very curious about everything as I got older. I was always outgoing and liked hanging out with friends on the weekends. I also loved music and playing drums as much as possible!
