Meet Antonio Gilbert of NRoute Courier Service in Decatur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Gilbert.

Antonio, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My logistics company was form in an unorthodox way and by no means is that a slight against the industry but I could easily say the logistic industry chose me. June 1997, a greedy decision caused my life took a turn for the worst. At twenty-one years young, I decided to take a “friend” to stick up a store. Unbeknownst to me, that would be the last night I would spend living a normal life. Not knowing the life altering dangers I was putting myself in, nor the impact it would have on my myself and family. I guess you can imagine, my thoughts of a bright future was non-existence. I literally thought my life was over.

June 2009, I entered back into society filled with anticipation and eagerness to start afresh. I thank God my thoughts weren’t negative about rebuilding my life but I knew it wouldn’t be easy for me because of my legal woes. Finding employment was overwhelming and at times disheartening, so I turned to a God given talent; cutting hair. I began to cut hair in my uncle’s barbershop to generate some income for myself. I also enrolled in The University of Pheonix to complete what I started at Georgia State University. Friends and family supported and encouraged me as much as they could. They patronized the barbershop and kept me in frequent talks of me making my life better. During one of those conversations while giving a haircut, a friend suggested logistics. Through that conversation NRoute Courier Service, INC. was born.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My friend had given every ounce of knowledge of the business he could and by the time I saw the potential in starting NRoute, I also realized what God had placed in front me. The only thing left for me to do was take the leap of faith. I don’t want to mislead anyone who maybe reading this, so I must say that there were definitely challenges along way. Everything from keeping my books up to date, gallon to mile ratio, to being taken advantage of when it came to being paid justly. In hindsight, I’m grateful for having the willingness to share my experiences with friends and other people I had met in the industry because they shared their wisdom, giving me an up close and personal look at the good and bad of logistics. Through them, I also learned my worth and how to set standards for doing business. It was important to me that NRRoute be a reputable company and after eight years, it has been.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about NRoute Courier Service, INC – what should we know?
NRoute Courier Service is a courier service that specialize in expedite freight and hotshots. We not only deliver to large corporations but also service residentials. We are known for handling time-sensitive freight exceptionally well. We are now looking to explore the contractual side of logistics. If I have to say there’s an element of logistics that set us apart, it would be our efficiency and versatility.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would like to shout out my family and friends for always being supportive and believing in me. Friends have put me positions to mentor kids and share my life lessons, in hopes of deterring them from making any grave mistakes themselves. My family have encouraged me and shared their resources with me to help make this journey a success. I owe them everything.
