Hi Antonio, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hemmingw8y is an R&B soul Artist Residing in Atlanta, GA. The Tennessee Native was raised in the church, where he found the soulful influence of his music. Hemmingw8y’s goal is to make you feel something through not just the music itself but also in his lyrics and distinctive tone. The Performer emerged slowly but surely after relocating in his teenage years from Clarksville, Tennessee to the Magical City of Birmingham, Alabama. Although Dancing and Being a Disc Jockey consumed the majority of his time living there. It gave him the opportunity to make himself an all-around entertainer. As this new Alias Hemmingw8y is created based on the famous writer/novelist Ernest Miller Hemmingway, a different yet familiar vibe is added to the world’s r&b and soul catalog. Hemminw8y’s tone and vibe have been inspired by artists such as Anthony Hamilton and John Legend while still providing modern feels from artists such as Brent Faiyaz, Elhae, Kenyon Dixon, and Victoria Monet.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Dancing is one thing and of course second nature for me but singing is a completely different ball game. Once I decided to take music and being an artist seriously my dad passed. I often just think, “I wonder if he would’ve liked my music,” or would he have hit me with “boi what is this crap you got me listening too.” It makes me laugh whenever I do think about it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Singer/Songwriter but I’m known for creative direction and Dancing. Slowly I’m working towards making my mark in the music industry. I’m proud of being able to survive as long as I have in the entertainment industry while nurturing my craft. It gets difficult at times so being able to even move forward and not quit is something I’m very proud of. What sets me apart from others is simply me being me. Nobody can me for me. Being myself is my superpower.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about the city is the richness in creativity and endless opportunities that are presented daily to network, grow, and promote yourself and your brand. What I dislike most is the random traffic. I think anyone living here can attest to that! Aside from that, I love Atlanta.
