Today we’d like to introduce you to Archie Banks.
Archie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Hello there, much of what I do comes from what I learned from my Father and my Mother, always pushing me to reach for the stars. My dad is a man of many talents and a lot of those are reflected in my life. My father owned a salon for many years and was a cosmetologist. During the summers, I would be at the salon for most of the day while my mother worked as a probate clerk at the Anderson country courthouse. While hanging out at the salon, I would watch my dad and the ladies in the salon do hair and as time went by, I was taught things by the ladies between clients that helped propel my love of being a hairstylist.
My career in that field took a detour once I fell in love with the tech industry and began a career in that field by first working in the nuclear power industry and then in the telecom industry and now the arcade tech industry. In between those working careers, I’ve always tried to find something for myself that I could do on my own and I started my own business, which now consists of a few things I like to do, which involves hair, furniture, and weekly social media content. I still have a love for doing hair and making people look they’re very best. With the furniture side of things, I love to take old pieces and give them a trash to treasure makeover and I really enjoy the process and the end result. The social media site is a side that I am still exploring and I have a great time learning new things and finding new ways to promote my business.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only ruff side of this business journey has been trying to find the one thing that I wanted to put all of my focus into and growing that thing into a lucrative business. During that time, I just decided to do whatever the moment called for and chase all of my goals at the same time.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business has taken on a life of its own, which has taken me down many roads and those roads have lead me to meet many great people along the way who still remain in my life, pushing me further in life to reach the goals I’ve set for myself. Two of the main focuses in my business have been hair, which I specialize in Natural hair, which means mostly hair braiding and a loctician, which is a person who specializes in dreadlock care. The Furniture side of the business started out has a hobby that once people in my friend circle seen the passion I put into my work, they encouraged me to include it into my business ventures. The social media site has been a great way to open the doors for new people to see me who necessarily wouldn’t get the opportunity to.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood really just consist of the moments where my friends and I would be deep in the woods building forts out of things such as old campers tops and scrap wood that my father had lying around his workshop at our home.
