Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashanti Garrison.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always had a passion for fine arts. I grew up around a family who was also creative but never pursued art as more than a hobby so naturally, I did the same. I took dance, art, and orchestra classes for years and sketched and painted for fun in my free time. Growing up, I never had friends who were interested in those kind of things, so I mostly practiced alone until my best cousin introduced me to photography and videography. She had a camera before I did so she’d always suggest we’d get dressed up and go somewhere cool and shoot. She also directed a ton of embarrassing montages that she decided to post on youtube. The point is, I actually really really liked doing those things. I look back on it and laugh at how serious we took our arts and crafts but in reality, that’s what made me who I am. Those things still bring me joy, and I honestly can’t see myself doing anything career-wise that doesn’t involve creativity.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have insecurities that make it difficult for me to confidently pursue art as a career. I don’t know. I always feel weird sharing my work or explaining what I do to others.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
Being a creative, I take an interest in a few different visual arts. I enjoy modeling, styling, photography, and videography. I participate in those arts the most. I like to direct and style shoots for montages that I create and I would love to start styling and directing photo shoots more often than just being apart of them.
