Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlei White.
Ashlei, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The Bawse Mom Movement was birthed through purpose. Prior to becoming pregnant with my first child, I was on a journey to find my true passion and life passion beyond the corporate doors. As a diversity recruiting consultant by profession, I knew I had a passion for helping minorities develop professionally and pivot their careers, but I always wanted something to call my own. As I grew into my pregnancy, I kept thinking how I would manage being a full-time mom and grow in my profession without giving up my goals. It dawned on me that it could definitely be done with the right mindset. With that thought, I wanted to bring a community of other like-minded moms together to emphasize their professional growth as working moms and or businesses/brands as momtrepreneurs while still being phenomenal mothers, specifically millennial moms. The Bawse Mom is a safe place for us to come together through my podcast series and events, and in such a short time of launching, I have made an impact in women’s lives that I could only imagine, and it won’t stop here! Today I am happy to say that I am in Season 4 of my podcast season and have interviewed over 30 moms telling their stories on their pregnancy stories, how they have grown in their careers and or launched successful businesses, I’ve hosted my first event and will soon be launching my first piece of merchandise. This movement will continue to grow and I hope to make an even larger impact this year and beyond. Being a Bawse Mom is our lifestyle and this movement has just begun!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road but is continuously shaping into something amazing. Sometimes I am discouraged and lack motivation because I have a lot to balance and prioritize. Some of the struggles I’ve endured are staying motivated, managing my social media account for my business, and building business credit to assist in financing some of my business needs. I have been able to implement resources to help me stay organized so I am not burnt out which ultimately makes me feel unmotivated to keep going. Delegating and outsourcing is something I truly recommend to those building a business/brand, especially for my mamas! We have so many tasks on our plates and it never seems like its enough time to get everything done. I have also outsourced for assistance with my social media account and have hired a social media manager. I am still working on building my business credit but have identified different ways to assist my business and its growth.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?By
By profession, I am a Diversity Recruiting Consultant in HR and a part-time entrepreneur with several side hustle businesses working as a certified travel agent, podcaster/event host, and managing a hair extension store in the Atlanta area.
I think what sets me a part from others is my ability to remain desiccated to the goals I have and continue to press the gas on them. I started a new job and side hustle with a child less than 1 year old and not many resources and though it’s been challenging I see the rewards that have come along with it.
accomplish them and am able to build my side hustles into full-blown businesses that can sustain my lifestyle needs, I will take them on full-time and leave corporate
What matters most to you? Why?
Family, I have always wanted a family of my own since I was a little girl and I am finally getting a chance to experience it. My family keeps me going and pushes me to become a stronger woman. I ultimately want to become successful enough to take care of my parents and teach my son (and future children) what generational wealth is. Growing up, I didn’t take things like college and working seriously. I just assumed this things would come easily because that’s what is supposed to happen in life– go to school, get a job. I came to realize that it takes work and dedication to be successful in life and build the life you want to live.
