Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Adams.
Hi Ashley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised on the Westside of Atlanta GA. Mix breed African/West African Egyptian, Nigerian, Ghanaian, Jamaican,Haitian, Indian & Mongolian based on my dna genetics test. To be quite honest, I had absolutely no clue what I wanted to do in life. I went to foster care when I was 13 had my first child at 15. Having my daughter saved my life, I had a temper on me that was out of this world. She forced me to grow up really fast and tone it down a lot. I was always smart and ahead of most but I thought it was weird but at that point at I no longer cared. I had a baby and I had to finish school as fast as I could so I did just that. My 17th birthday, I walked out of DFCS custody with my daughter and haven’t looked back since. Went to school for my CNA, CCMA & Massage Therapist honestly I didn’t like any of it. In between all the schooling, I had my son. I have always been into plastic surgery obsessed with this field but was too afraid to jump in it. Fast forward to 2016, my aunt went and had an Abdominoplasty and Butt Augmentation and she needed assistance getting around the house post op doctor’s visit, transportation bathing, cooking, eating, laundry, etc. She also needed Lymphatic Massages. I went to school for all these trades but it was something about each one I love and something about each one that was a deal-breaker for me. This was my lightbulb moment. I can literally put everything I love about each trade together in one setting make one career and I never feel like I’m working; I absolutely fell in love with it. Did some research and was oh that’s post op recovery care.
So after I was done helping my aunt back to her normal self, the exact day I packed my bags and left, I was in the car before I could pull out the driveway. I had experienced something I had never experienced before I heard a voice in my ear clear as day that said “this it this the one” but the feeling of pure joy and the emotions I had running through my body I still can’t fully express to this day and that was the beginning of Royalty Curves Recovery Concierge LLC. & Royalty Lux Recovery House. I’m now a Senior Master Medical Aesthetician Student looking forward finishing my license with my school Epic Beauty Institute. I’ll be returning to get my Master Instructor License after I’ve had my license for two years. Cosmetic Surgery & Esthetics go hand and hand the main reason I decided to go to school to be Aesthetician a lot of women suffer from postpartum depression after cosmetic surgery my goal is to make sure all my Royalty Dolls & Vixens feel beautiful start to finish so I’ll give her facial, tint her brows put some lashes, etc. anything I need to do to keep her spirits high but I needed the proper training and documentation. I want to take this industry over by storm. Starting by opening my own international line of franchise spas and a school for Post Op Recovery Care.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life is smooth lol we just have to make the best of it. I went to foster care at 13. I sat there and saw this man count my grandma $2500 cash and said she gotta go and looked over at me and walked out the door at this point me and my aunt had a physical fight about this. My biological father act like he didn’t believe me. I had one uncle that laughed in my face about it and called his partner my grandmother can’t look me in my face to this day I still love her though. I had a lot of reasons to angry I thought the more you grow, learn & forgive you will heal. I had my daughter at 15 walked out dfcas custody when I was 17 with my daughter. I know what it feels like to be homeless walking with a baby all night staying up making sure she’s safe. Riding the bus and train all day and night until they stop running.
Me and my daughter lived in hotels but I thank god I never had to sell my body or do anything of that nature I always had a job and my daughter went to daycare or Godmother (Farika J.) had her I meet her in a group home I lived in this lady is a walking Angel she has the strength of superwoman times 10. Life continues then you run across the wrong people you think are for you but really using you. I used to be one of those people who show so much love it puts me in a low place. I’ll help everybody around me and when it’s my turn and I never need much but when I do its little things and I can’t get that from anybody I’ve help. I’ve had family members behind on rent and bills I’ll pay in full with the agreement to just let me stay there until my apartments was ready (years ago) came out cheaper than a hotel and you putting me out the next two weeks. I have six siblings, five are under me and I had my first sibling to go to college. I worked two jobs put in OT at both a mom still ran my business just to make sure he didn’t have to work at job because of his intense his major is.
