Meet Ashley Allen of GoHypeFit in Detroit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Allen.

Ashley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My Name is Ashley Allen and I am 28 year old alumna of Wayne State University, with a bachelor’s degree in media arts & Studies. In 2013, my life changed forever when I abruptly lost my father due to congestive heart failure. It caused me to go into a depression, which affected not only my mental health but my physical health as well. I started working out, eating better and even got a therapist to help me along with the road of recovery. In January of 2018, I created GOHYPEFIT, and I started my journey to teach my first public twerk class, and I fell in love with it. I enjoy helping people find what works for them when it comes to fitness. My twerk aerobics classes have not only spread the word of what happened to my father and how you can take a life lesson and turn in into something positive, but it also helps get people moving. In the future, I plan to have even bigger seminars that allow me to collab with others to help spread the word about exercise.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road at all. It has been very challenging to do this on my own and stay positive. Sometimes I wanted to give up when my classes were empty and felt discouraged, but I have not given up.

Please tell us about your work.
GOHYPEFIT was created in January of 2018. I teach twerk cardio classes and offer home fitness routines and workouts for people who don’t enjoy working out. I want everyone to know how important it is to get some cardio in at least once a day for 45 minutes, plus. My favorite piece of my company is my LOGO. Her name is CLEO in the representation of my late father, Clifford Allen. He loved Clifford, the big red dog. She also has a heart on the top of her shoe to represent congestive heart failure, which is what my dad passed away from. She is a strong character, and she helps me represent him well.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I would love to own my own space to teach classes, but I am excited about GOHYPEFIT.COM. It is going to change the amount of people I can touch with online courses, cool articles, and all of my class listings. I am also going to make sure the blog portion of my site is uplifting and easy to understand.
