Meet Ashley Harris of Mcdonough

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Harris.

Hi Ashley , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Ashley, and I’m a proud mother of six—five girls and one boy. Yes, six kids! Years ago, God gave me the vision to start a mentorship program—even down to the name. But I kept it tucked away in my heart because I had no idea where to begin.

As the years went by, I faced many challenges, but through those experiences, I discovered my purpose. I didn’t realize it at the time, but God was preparing me to be a leader for young girls. He had already planted the vision in me, he was simply equipping me with the knowledge, resources, and confidence to bring it to life.

In December 2023, God tapped me on the shoulder and said, “It’s time.” I shared the vision with my friends, and their response was, “Let’s make it happen.” And that’s exactly what we did. The mentorship program launched in December of that year, and now, a year and a half later, we’re transitioning from an LLC to a nonprofit so we can expand our outreach and impact even more lives in the community.

As a mother of five daughters, I’ve witnessed firsthand the struggles they and their friends face. I didn’t grow up doing everything by the book, which is why I dedicate my time to pouring into my Pretti Girls, offering them the guidance, support, and resources I wish I had when I was their age. I tell them all the time: I made the mistakes so you don’t have to.

Pretti Girls with A Purpose is dedicated to sisterhood, education, and community service. Every month we have a workshop that is dedicated to the education and growth of our girls. It ranges from financial literacy, college preparation, leadership skills, public speaking and more! The girls have to uphold the Pretti Girl promise which is getting good grades, maintaining a clean social media presence, and possessing the leadership qualities they are being taught inside and outside of Pretti Girls. They are building up their resume’s and gaining hours of community service. These girls are given the. blueprint to succeed!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, this has been one of the smoothest processes. I have developed strong relationships with my girls. Of course they do not like it when I correct them but they always respect me and truly listen to my advice. After they calm down they realize why I am hard on them like I am.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Currently I am a stay at home mom and I homeschool my children which is so rewarding. In the professional world, I am a licensed Realtor, a Make up Artist, and I just graduated from Clayton State University with my Bachelors Degree in Business Management in the Fall of 2024. My family and my organization Pretti Girls With A Purpose has been my main focus in this season.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice will be to always remember your purpose because things will happen and you will have to dig deep to keep going. Stay surrounded by people that lift you up and push you to go harder and NEVER stop learning. The world around us will keep evolving so it is. important to stay educated.

I dont think I would have done anything differently because this organization was truly created from purpose. I felt like God equipped me for every part of it!
