Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Rivera.

Ashley Rivera

Hi Ashley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always loved to bake as a teenager and my main dish was brownies, when I say, I can make delicious brownies, I did. I was addicted to baking shows but I had no idea where to start just brownies or cookies from the grocery store. I knew I wanted more out of it. Years passed and I went a different route but I knew deep down it was baking. My daughter was about to be in school, I’ve been a SAHM for 5+ years and I knew it would be hard to get back into the work field, so I went out and bought all the baking things I needed and I had my best friend guide me. She always talked to me about baking but my excuse was “I’ve never done it before,” so I threw it out the window and I became all ears and had her guide me. I had questions after questions but she answered them or even sent videos to guide me. I remember calling everyone I knew about what type of name sounded catchy and what type of logo I was all in. I’ve been happily doing this since March of this year and it’s only getting better. When people say, “When you love what you do, you’re never working,” I can honestly say, “They’re right.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wasn’t always a smooth road. I remember when I first started, I burnt the chocolate and not just one but about three packs because I was still learning how to melt the chocolate. I also put chocolate in a bag to start decorating but it was so hot I burned myself but kept going. I bought a bottle to use to decorate and one time I put the top on and I was on my last two pretzels and the top came off and all the chocolate came out and fell on my sweets. This last memory still makes me laugh, my daughter loves strawberries and I bought a new pack to start making chocolate-covered strawberries and I put everyone to sleep and was ready to start until I realized I couldn’t find my strawberries and I even questioned myself if I even bought a new package of strawberries, so I looked every until I checked my daughter’s frozen table and there was my strawberries, all gone; so now I know, every time I go to the store, I need to buy two packages of strawberries, one for her and one for my clients.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Ashley’s Sweets And Beyond is a chocolate-loving bakery. If we can melt it, we’re claiming it. I make chocolate-covered strawberries and chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate-dipped Oreos, cupcakes, and cake pops. Ashley’s Sweets And Beyond are known for their boxes, you decide on a theme and I decorate it all for you. What sets us apart from others, I try not to leave my clients in the dark. Once I start working on their order, I let them know and throughout the process, I take pictures to send to them. I am most proud of the little mermaid box I made and all the support I received.

How do you think about luck?
The good luck role played in my life for my business to be less than a year old and I have clients who love my sweets and think highly of Ashley’s Sweets And Beyond. I couldn’t have done it without them because getting a comment, a share or an order just lights up my world.
