Meet Ashley Strahm

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Strahm. Ashley was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Rush Imhotep.

Ashley, can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Meeting Rush has been such a delight. He’s the only person I truly trust with my assets, and I’m so grateful he’s stewarding my husband and I through our early thirties. He distills really complex information into digestible content for my husband and I to understand. There is such a failure in the US education system throughout early adulthood to quantify how previous investment information and decisions are, so it’s such an asset to have someone like Rush Imhotep as someone we trust to chart a healthy course and goals for us to build a financial roadmap around.

Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
I work in content for a health tech company, and I absolutely love that I get to tell the stories of people whose lives are impacted by equitable access to healthcare. I have a degree in journalism, so it’s a professional avenue I relish. I also work remotely, often traveling internationally for months at a time, so my chapter as a global citizen is just beginning! My husband Cody is also in healthcare, so we’re equally invested in improving community quality of care.

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Rush Imhotep and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Rush.
After two years of partnership with Rush: We’ve paid off over 128,000 dollars in student loan debt. It took us a decade, but we accelerated our efforts with Rush’s advice.
We’ve sold our first and bought our second home.
We max out our 401k every year, and seek companies that can offer a 4 and 8 percent match to us, respectively.
We opened and maxed out our first Roth IRA accounts, and have opened a third investment account.
We are planning a move to Portugal in the next eight months.
We’ve saved thousands, consolidated out accounts into one manageable place, and our portfolio is triple what it was worth when we met Rush.

Personally, I’m a Black woman and a child of immigrants. My husband grew up in the midwest, and wasn’t taught much about investing. The two of us are choosing to remain childfree and are building generational wealth that we hope will allow us to retire early and live internationally. None of this would have been possible without a financial ally at our side.
