Meet Ashton Taylor of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashton Taylor

Hi Ashton, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started photography over a decade ago, around 2012, and ever since then I haven’t stopped! I started out wanting a camera for self portraits for tumblr (typical), and then I began taking photos of my sister and friends as models.

My passion is portrait photography, specifically creative and editorial portraits. I love collaborating with models and styling my own shoots. I also shoot weddings, engagements, elopements, families, couples, cars, motorcycles, architecture, really anything else!

Recently, I have been getting into film photography. There was a time where I had not picked up my digital camera for over a month! I find film so fun, but also challenging to get the shots you envision to come out correctly. So for now, my obsession is film!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been easy, really due to mental health. There have been times where I’ve had to take a break from photography, but I always come back to it!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in creative and editorial portraits! I work with agency models, studios, MUA’s, stylists etc. to make shoots come to life! Sometimes I will style my own shoots, and other times I am collaborating with many creative individuals. I love incorporating low angle shots with a wide angle lens, which I think I am well known for! My editing style ranges depending on the needs of the photo, but my style usually contains high contrast.

It makes me happy when some of my fellow creatives tell me they can recognize my work just by glancing at it!

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I think I may have been between 12-14, but one winter it snowed here in south Atlanta. It snowed so much my dad, sister, and I were able to go sledding in our neighborhood! We used our dads old sled from when he was a child. It was genuinely so fun because it never snows like that here!
