Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian and Asia King.
Brian and Asia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have a true passion for event planning and celebrating others. About fifteen years ago, I became a Certified Wedding and Event Planner. However, I was reluctant to start an event planning business because I was working on my Master’s Degree, teaching Middle Schoolers, teaching at a Technical College, and coordinating an after-school program… just busy in my singleness. Fast forward to Summer 2018, my husband and one of my girlfriends encouraged me to jumpstart my event planning business, A Royal Affair. I coordinated a few weddings and I thoroughly enjoyed working with each bride. The time that I devoted to communicating with the bride, bridal party, and vendors was more than I could handle while juggling family life. Needless to say, A Royal Affair was quickly dissolved.
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and I am a firm believer of using my gifts and talents to serve others. It is also important to my husband and I that our children understand the financial rewards and financial freedom that many small business owners are able to experience when operating successfully. After thinking deeply about my next business move, I consulted my Business Coach. My Business coach is my husband, Brian King. I shared with him my desire to open a kids spa for girls to celebrate their birthdays. He asked me several thought-provoking questions and suggested that I develop my business plan. I continued to research Kids Spas and ran across several franchise opportunities, but I knew I wanted to make the Spa my own. I wanted to create an experience and atmosphere that little girls and moms would fall in love with. After several months of planning, BeYOUtiful Princess Kids Spa opened in January 2019.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, opening and operating a business has been going well. We have a wonderful team who works very hard to ensure our customers receive the services they pay for and deserve. Unfortunately, our customers sometimes compete for specific days and times and we are looking to expand in an effort to meet the needs of our customer base.
BeYOUtiful Princess Kids Spa – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in kid-friendly spa and tea parties for girls ages 3- 16. Our main goal is to provide a fun and relaxing experience while celebrating birthdays, special occasions, and friendships. BeYOUtiful Princess Kids spa is the only Kids Spa in the Middle Georgia area and we are known for providing memorable experiences for young girls. Our guests instantly fall in love with the Spa when they enter and we often hear the girls say, “I don’t ever want to leave this place.”
Our packages may include the following: mini-pedicure, mini-manicure, fun dress-up time with accessories, fashion show, an interactive game, age-appropriate girl talk sessions, the use of a private venue, spa robes to wear during the party, and at least two party hostesses. Additionally, we offer a Tea Party package as well.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
After researching Kids Spas in Georgia, we noticed several in the Metro Atlanta area and a few Kids Spas south of our location. We are so excited about the number of customers who have driven miles and miles to support our business and of course, make their daughters happy. Our target audience was our neighboring cities: Fort Valley and Macon, GA. However, we have been so blessed to serve customers from Dublin, Newnan, Acworth, Milledgeville, Twiggs, Fitzgerald, Lamar Co, and Forsyth.
