Today we’d like to introduce you to Asif and Salima Bhojani.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Asif and Salima. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My wife, Salima Bhojani, and I, Asif Bhojani, began managing a small wing shop on Beaver Ruin Rd in 2018. We had several years of restaurant management experience under our belt, but it would not have been even remotely possible without the guidance of Mr. Malik Panjwani. He was able to give us the financial and leadership support that aided us in re-opening this wing shop inside of a larger property in the city of Lilburn. After closing down our original location, there was a period of time when we were unemployed.
During this time, I sometimes felt useless. However, we continued learning new skills online and I started driving Uber for some needed capital. My wife and I had discrete plans to open in March of this year. However, the pandemic changed our plans and forced me to continue our unemployment for another month. In the month of April, we decided to take the plunge back into the restaurant and begin operating. It was VERY scary to jump back into the restaurant business during a time when coronavirus cases were spiked. With precise determination, we believed that a hygienic model of restaurant operation would solve this problem. Now, it was time to convince our customers of their safety and of the quality of our food.
Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth would be hard to articulate, as beginning a restaurant business in April of 2020 was honestly a huge struggle. We think that with our support for each other, my son’s (Aman Bhojani) everlasting aid in marketing, and our reliable employees, we were able to mitigate much of the expected financial hardships. One of the greatest struggles was to insure consistent food availability. With the pandemic, many quality meat suppliers were out of business. With the value for high-quality chicken in mind, we decided that we would not settle for anything less than ideal. This meant that we had to invest more money into purchasing our supplies initially, greatly increasing our food costs. Over time, as our loyal customer base began to grow, the volume of sales helped our business survive. With three months into the business, the majority of the struggles might be behind us, but the fear of maintaining a loyal customer base is always in the back of our mind.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
K Wings Cafe specializes in custom made wings. We offer 36 different flavors, and each of those can be mixed upon the customer’s desire. All of our wings can be made to fit your preference through our usage of 100% Zabiha Halal meat and alterations to cooking time. Along with fresh to order chicken wings, we provide cajun and lemon pepper seasoned fries, fried Oreos, a multitude of sandwiches, and homemade desserts such as Carrot Cake and “Soha’s Floofkies.” Recently, we have begun selling Nashville Hot Chicken at our location. This makes K Wings Cafe Lilburn, the only place to find freshly fried Nashville Hot in Gwinnett County. With a huge menu, we value quality, service, and taste over just a large profit. Due to the fact that we started during the pandemic, our priority for personal hygiene is top of the line, and we invite everyone to give us a shot for your next craving.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes. Atlanta and the nearby cities surrounding it are a great place to start a business. Atlanta and its suburbs have families and individuals that want to support local “mom and pop” establishments. This refreshing quality can be looked up to in our country.
